This is just a rembrance of a soldier who gave his life so that we could all be free. His (Harry H. Spencer) birthday is coming on Septembr 30, and I would like whoever reads this link, to take a moment of silence for him and all others that have lost their lives remembering that some of these people were just 18 and 19 years old kids. I don't know if this is what your looking for, but this was a friend of mine, Harry H. Spencer, also Dennis Bowman, only son of his parents, as was Harry the only son of his mother, he was also the son of a fireman killed in action as a fireman. What will happen we can not even anticipate, however, we know what has happened to these young people, and I should think it would not hurt anyone to know that these people are still remember and highly respected and still prayed for by others.

OK... A memorial... Then here's to the memory of Cpl Floyd Daniels, USMC Retired (1st Bn 9th Marines) who came home without his legs. He became an inspiration to many. And to Cpl David "Beetle" Bailey, 1/9. His fight finally ended Thanksgiving week, 1998. And to all the others who were casualties of that war, whether they came home in a box or otherwise. The ones who grew no older than their 18th or 19th years. The ones whose demons STILL torment them but persevere nonetheless. Here's to Warriors.

And a remberance of all the American boys who were killed or maimed as a result of the US Government sending them half way around the world to defend a corrupt Saigon Government which was created by the CIA, and to fight a war the Vietnamese would not fight.

I love my country but I have nothing but contempt for the US Government........The Government is NOT the country.

You have a good point. Nonetheless, our warriors were magnificent and deserve to be remembered for their efforts. An ungrateful nation and a duplicitous gooberment do not detract from their "last full measure of devotion" to their comrades in battle, for whom most everyone fought, even after realising that their gooberment had no intention of allowing us to win. Would that we had, as a nation, learned THAT lesson from Vietnam...
Had we learned it and its corollary lessons, perhaps we'd have fewer issues to divide us today.

I understand, and I salute our warriors; but it was never our war to win or lose. We could still be over there winning battles and running up body counts, but the other side was not going to run out of bodies and they were not going to give up. That was MACVJ2's conclusion in the Fall of '65, and later I read the the CIA had reached the same conclusion a year earlier. I went on some search and destroy operations with ARVN and I saw why those operations were later called search and AVOID.
