This speech of Reagan's is often forgotten, but I think it's worthy of reading at this point in the California Gubernatorial election. Reagan gave this speech when he was running for Governor of California in 1966. He was the underdog, not a politician, and no one thought he could win. Yet we know what happened.
Ronald Reagan is the reason I became a Republican. I have many conservative friends who thought Reagan was a squish and betrayed the movement, but he was with us far more than he was against us. Conservatives don't agree with each other 100% of the time. I would take Ronald Reagan any day of the week. And I will be voting, supporting, and volunteering for Bill Simon. Bill Simon needs us, and we need him.
Thanks for the ping and the great article.

Ping ... I decided to post this speech instead of A Time for Choosing. Maybe I'll do that one next week. I think it's important to re-read some of the best speeches from our greatest leaders, and put a little perspective on all the mud-slinging and backstabbing.
Reagan is someone we can emulate. And this speech is relevant to California's election today.
