"He did reroute the Pecos river --- didn't he???"

I think that was Paul Bunyon, and the river was the Missouri.
There warnt never enough water in the Pecos to mess with.

Old Pecos Bill rode that there whirlwind.

Billie asked earlier what was the fartherest distance across Texas, and the figure of 901 miles came to mind.
I looked and I can't find it now.
I'm pretty sure that's right, though.

OMG! The true Texan post brought back memories for me! Although I am a native Californian, my Dad was born and raised in Texas, and he and my grandparents said all these things!

Then there is of course, Chadsworth, a Californian for only about 14 years who says these things, and more that I never heard of!

The most embarrassing thing is if he decides to order the same thing I do in a restaurant he will look at the waitress and say, " I'll have the same settin'." I want to crawl under the table and hide! LOL!

I've driven from Houston to Los Angeles a few times. The halfway point was El Paso.

JustFrank using JustAmy's account.

It's a good thing that was JustFrank who posted that joke Amy, or else you might be in trouble again. Since I haven't read all the posts, tell me, did Chadsworth try and say he was that 25lb baby? :)

Like that old rancher in Ballinger who ordered the bowl of clabber from a young waitress who didn't have the slightest idea he was talking about yogurt.

Now I don't know what clabber is, except for spoiled milk! We don't have that creepy sounding stuff in California! :)

The big problem about driving out of the state of Texas for a vacation is that vacation is over before you can get out of the state!!

"did Chadsworth try and say he was that 25lb baby?"

I expect all these Texan's to start making that claim. I had better quit opening mail from my Texas relatives. Boy, it is good that JustFrank did it and not me.
I am tired of that corner of The Orange Tree Jail!

Amy, I would make a comment here, but I don't think Billie has gone to bed.
I don't think I can get away with JustCOB.

It's Jim's fault! He wouldn't give me a second freeper name. I told him I needed one that I could use to get banned and my other sweet name.
He just said one name per person. DARN!!

The longest north -south distance is 801 and the longest distance east west is like 736 (Approx?) However, I remember my dad when I was a boy, (just last month-uh hmmm) making a map measurement with a compass and the longest straight line distance, at some angle (?) scaled at about 1100 miles.

and besides all that, I just looked up a law that is on the books and it is against the law in Texas to put graffiti on another mans cow. ( you better be careful)

I just returned from running errands and noticed that JustFrank had been on-line.
Did he get me in trouble again?

E-mail me some food

That reminds me of what I did to my brother for his birthday---- I faxed him a $100 bill.

Boy! That makes me homesick! I used to set trot lines across the Rio Grande at the base of the Chisos Mountain when there was nothing there but a sand bar where I could pitch a tent.

We hiked in the Chisos and along the canyons. One time we came across large paws in the sand (Puma?)....we made a hasty retreat out of that canyon.

We only lived in Texas for three years but often talk about the wonderful memories...seeing the Alamo; Big Bend; the Gulf beaches; Austin & San Antonio; going to the Rodeo in the Astrodome; learning to sail on Galvestin Bay and square dancing!

We considered moving to Austin, Texas when we retired but with most of our family on the east coast; we chose Florida. I love Texas...especially the warm friendly people! Texas is a GIANT place with a BIG HEART!
