Are you concerned about our nation's porous borders? It's a fair question, and I think that it is one that nearly everyone can answer. Please provide your opinion and why you feel one way or the other?

Are you Concerned about Illegal Immigration? Here, I'll put this thread to bed. The title of the thread should have been Is The President or the Congress Concerned about Illegal Immigration?
THE ANSWER IS NO! The Federal government if 100 percent responsible for this nation changing, titanic invasion of millions.
They don't care what we think. They could care less what the people want.

"Kalifornia," the state itself, has the third largest economy in the world... so tell me, why our schools are going into deficits that are incomprehensible?"One reason is The City Of San Francisco covers sex changes under their medical insurance.

They're often inter-connected, and they're more connected than you seem to admit.
Just a fact of life. Like I said, it takes generations for assimilation to be complete. Furthermore, full assimilation is often unlikely, for cultural subgroups are often what comes out of cultural convergence.

full assimilation is often unlikely, for cultural subgroups are often what comes out of cultural convergence. What does that mean exactly, and give me an example or two or three. Thanks.

Lol!! Now it's high RE prices indicating that LA is more agreeable than it has been for a long time! That has to qualify for the Dr Pangloss Award, with a Pollyana Cluster.
The lowest interest rates in 30 years, the avoidance of the stock market, and LA being the POE for the highest immigration in a century is what is driving the RE bubble here. It's certainly not that SoCal is more desireable.

"I agree, especially all the Mexican, Columbian, Cuban, and Brazilian flags hanging from the rear view mirrors, on antennas, on the bumper, on windows, etc."Believe me.I get pissed off when I see that. If "The Old Country" was so great, why did they leave it and come here in the first place? If they stayed home I wouldn't have missed them.

You said it, Joe.

I am perfectly of your mind, that measures of great Temper are necessary with the Germans: and am not without Apprehensions, that thro' their indiscretion or Ours, or both, great disorders and inconveniences may one day arise among us; Those who come hither are generally of the most ignorant Stupid Sort of their own Nation, and as Ignorance is often attended with Credulity when Knavery would mislead it, and with Suspicion when Honesty would set it right; and as few of the English understand the German Language, and so cannot address them either from the Press or Pulpit, 'tis almost impossible to remove any prejudices they once entertain. Their own Clergy have very little influence over the people; who seem to take an uncommon pleasure in abusing and discharging the Minister on every trivial occasion. Not being used to Liberty, they know not how to make a modest use of it; and as Kolben says of the young Hottentots, that they are not esteemed men till they have shewn their manhood by beating their mothers, so these seem to think themselves not free, till they can feel their liberty in abusing and insulting their Teachers. Thus they are under no restraint of Ecclesiastical Government; They behave, however, submissively enough at present to the Civil Government which I wish they may continue to do: For I remember when they modestly declined intermeddling in our Elections, but now they come in droves, and carry all before them, except in one or two Counties; Few of their children in the Country learn English; they import many Books from Germany; and of the six printing houses in the Province, two are entirely German, two half German half English, and but two entirely English; They have one German News-paper, and one half German. Advertisements intended to be general are now printed in Dutch and English; the Signs in our Streets have inscriptions in both languages, and in some places only German: They begin of late to make all their Bonds nad other legal Writings in their own Language, which (though I think it ought not to be) are allowed good in our Courts, where the German Business so encreases that there is continual need of Interpreters; and I suppose in a few years they will be also necessary in the Assembly, to tell one half of our Legislators what the other half say; In short unless the stream of their importation could be turned from this to other colonies, as you very judiciously propose, they will soon so out number us, that all the advantages we have will not in My Opinion be able to preserve our language, and even our Government will become precarious.
Curious?

You should drive the streets of "ethnic" neighborhoods in LA and see for yourself. Of course better still would be to drive the same streets you did 10 years ago.

Then tell me why there are boatloads of Spanish-Language format stations on the Los Angeles are radio dial? Why are nearly half of the local televisions stations aired in Spanish? Why does L.A. have a lot of graffiti? Why is there a considerable contingent of individuals who wish to revert the American southwest back to Mexico, or at the least, Aztlan? Why were American players spit on and booed at a US-Mexico soccer game at the LA Coliseum? Why are many groups, particularly Mexicans, displaying their colors everywhere you go?
While some are assimilating, many are not.

Oh, I get it, it's the illegal aliens that are buying homes in California for $400,00 and UP...So that's what's driving up the price of home here. Dang, why didn't I think of that!
To: FreedomFriend
Bwahahaha, right?
To: Torie
I do. I live here. I've lived in southern California since 1966, and I find your assessment of how things have changed to be bizarre.

What you seem to be advocating is interjecting large numbers of non-western, non-European peoples into the United States Of course not. However, let's take this as an example. West Germany dreamed of the day all of Germany would be re-united. When that day came even a welfare state like modern Germany was not prepared for the level of dependence on government that the newly freed east Germans demanded. They all came from the same cultural stock but their expectations, level of ambition and outlook is still a problem for the new Germany. It is not enough to talk about cultural purity without recognizing that cultural values are not genetic but learned values. Look at any town that has a history of being conservative and what happens when liberals migrate to it. However, I do have to ask, when did Mexico cease to be a "western" nation?

My advice would be get used to being screwed.

"They don't care what we think. They could care less what the people want."I'll really put this issue to bed. The politicians want to buy votes. What better way than to legalize illegal immigrants and relax immigration laws.
I've said it before and say it again: A country without borders is no longer a country.
To: apochromat
Yep, it's the fedgov that could care less about this crisis. The law abiding citizens no longer matter......
To: Luis Gonzalez
You those Pennslyvania Dutch are hopeless. They still dress differently and don't drive cars. Of course, they are not Dutch, but Deutsch, or German. If they were Dutch, aggressive assimilative oportunistic bastards that the latter were, they would have taken over everything, and named everything after their homeland, just like in New York, damn them. Fortunately, they are largely confined their poisnous influence to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, with a modest spillover in Chester and Lebanon Counties.
