Should school systems be allowed to recommend that children be put on psychoactive drugs?
A 12-year-old upstate boy says the trusted educators in his local school forced him to take a cocktail of drugs that turned him into a psychotic who heard voices in his head.

Now the Dutchess County mom and son have enlisted the help of high-powered New Jersey lawyer Alan Milstein, who has a reputation of aggressively going after influential medical institutions accused of injuring their human-research subjects. I guess it is PC to go after the companies, not the schools, CPS and government...

Michael Mozer was told he couldn't return to Millbrook Elementary School unless he took anti-hyperactivity drugs.

We have a theory here that ADHD and Bipolar disorder is caused by Clostridium difficile and that treatment with Ambrotose (complex sugars) and Flagyl antibiotic may stop the problem. Waiting to try it on a few patients.

Why do I get the notion that if a doctor had "prescribed" marijuana and the school and the courts forced the mother to keep administering it to her kid, that the outcry by some on FR would be against the parent for demonizing the wonderweed.

You even admit it is merely "a theory"!
Regulate the dosage. Oh wait, that's what they do with Ritalin and the other psychoactive drugs already.
As you can tell I'm not too keen on "human experimentation".

You're the joker of the day today I see.
Too funny! Apples and oranges.
Who were you addressing Dane?

Michael was medicated to keep the evil, dreaded disease known as MASCULINITY from surfacing.
To: kattracks
Fed up, Weathers stopped medicating her son in December 1999 when Michael pleaded, "Mom, make it stop - there's a person inside my head telling me to do bad things." Yes indeed there is. Serotonin Syndrome is what's it's called. It's serious business and it can induce halucinations. Serotonin belongs in the stomach or rather about 98% there abouts. Fool around with it as SSRI's {Paxil} does and it can in some cases migrate to the brain. The doctors should know this it's been around since the 1960's.
I would bet the poor kid has had ZERO testing by a qualified Audiologist for C.A.P.D. or Central Auditory Processing Disorders of which Ritalin and Paxil in general worsens. I would bet the kids medical history wasn't considered either. Such nice things as Allergies, ear infections, extended high fevers ect.

Why do you get the notion?
Please, elaborate.

I must have hit a nerve.
Not at all.
I found your reply rather humorous and ill conceived.
No nerves hit, except maybe the funny bone.
To: philman_36
Please, elaborate I already did. Like I said before if the drug in question was marijuana, I get the notion that there would be some people on FR villifying the mother for demonizing the wonderweed.

I get the notion that the tooth fairy is bringing me a million dollars tonight. Like I said before, I must have hit a nerve. You and phil are knee jerkingly reacting like a liberal would over abortion, except your sacred cow is marijuana.

I cannot stand all these namby pamby "teachers" who cannot deal with boys, so they want them drugged up more than Ozzy Osborne was when I saw him at a 1983 performance.
It is wrong. And these same "Zero Tolerance yahoos have Zero Judgement!
This part was disturbing though...
when Michael pleaded, "Mom, make it stop - there's a person inside my head telling me to do bad things."
My mother had mental illness, and yes, the side effects of the drugs (like Haldol) were even worse sometimes than her sickness. But this kid has something wrong with him. As a Christian, I would not rule out something demonic.
