For the next generation it's a lesson for future legacies. African historian Alafia Gaidi explained, "There's a reason why millions of Africans who've come to this country before us was never able to leave any kind of inheritance for their children, they were never paid."It's also rather difficult to be able to leave any kind of inheritance for your children if you spend your whole life on welfare.

Question: does "one drop of black blood" make you black, for purposes of reparations? Why? You thinking about shopping for a transfusion in Bed-Stuy?
Watch out!

You may laugh about "Buckwheat."
But I am told the child actor in the 1930's who played "Buckwheat," late in life joined the Nation of Islam and changed his name to ...
Kareema Wheat

Mayor Brown has his hatred because he was caught in a major police cheating scandal in Atlanta in the 80's. He was supplying black officer candidates with the answers to the tests to make sure they advance. After a humiliating demotion and re-testing of most of the force, he moved on to Houston after finishing the demoralization of the Atlanta force. Ah-ha! I heard about that flap from afar.....I had lived in Atlanta for two years or so, before coming to Houston by way of New Orleans, and my Atlanta friends told me about the examination scandal. I didn't know that Brown was the point man in stealing those non-black officers' promotions.
Here in Houston, as police chief his major initiative was the implementation of storefront police stations and using big traffic-ticket mills (certain problem intersections) to help the liberal mayor, Kathryn J. Whitmire, raise revenues without going to the Council to ask for more taxes, even while total police strength declined year-on-year, even as the city's population was exploding.
Since returning to Houston, he's been busy mostly taking lavish out-of-town trips, refereeing staff fights and embarrassments (one of his staffers referred to a very short, white Republican as a "midget", at a convention of minoritarian officeholders and hangers-on), feuding and plotting tawdry little revenges, and beating up on white police officers who initiate contacts with minority thugs casing white neighborhoods. Since Brown's "anti-profiling" decrees (backed up by the police chief and minority Council members), incidents of daylight burglary and "follow-home" robbery by gun- or knife-wielding minorities have zoomed in my close-in Houston neighborhood. And we're going to spend $1.3 billion on light-rail lines connecting not commuter destinations, but tying the downtown convention center and hotels to sports venues and airports -- all without discussion (unless you count executive discussions behind closed doors) and without a vote, after having spent a billion on sports palaces for Houston millionaires.
The source of the info was George DeMontrond, chairman of the blue-ribbon millionaires' committee that is calling the shots, in a televised Sunday interview a week or so ago.

Glad I don't live in Houston anymore. I feel sorry for the rest who do though. It's turned into a cesspool.

Before Brown became mayor, race relations weren't all that bad in Houston. I see that he has made some changes in that regard.

"We are not asking. We Demand??" Well, demand away! Can you believe the money heist about EVERYTHING in this country?? It is time we got a judge or two on the bench who simply won't hear these stupid requests for money from WE THE PEOPLE!

I demand money because my Great GRANDFATHER fought in the Civil War and was wounded. My goodness, his family was forever hurt by his drinking as a result of his injury!!

"Quannel and his band" numbered about 4 at the '00 GOP Convention, if I recall, and they were desperately trying to look intimidating while being largely ignored - or laughed at!

I'm all in favor of reparations. I figure a miilion dollars each for every ex-slave in the U.S.!
To be paid, of course, by all the former slave owners.
In fairness, then, I think WE should be paid reparations by Blacks for the burning of cities. How much do you think a city costs? L.A., Detroit, Philadelphia....
Then how about the cost of civilization? The Black slaves brought here had no discernible civilization, and we provided them with one that, however flawed, had been working for centuries and which continues to work, providing a stable basis for incredible advances in science and medicine.
What do you suppose this is worth? I'd say at least $100,000 per person, don't you think? I'll take cash, thank you.
This "reparations" thing is a great idea!
