"All the tequila we have today we owe to the bats who have been pollinating the agaves for thousands of years,"

That is all the convincing I need. I support this conservationist measure.

"The vampire bat's saliva attacks clotting cells and turns them into liquid," Dr. Medellín said. "And it doesn't have any side effects."

True. Just ask this satisfied customer ...

I'm in north central Oklahoma and just put up a small bat house -- Do the bats really like the man-made bat houses? Does anyone know how long it will take a bat to find it?

"Scientists say vampire bat saliva may help researchers
prevent heart attacks and strokes."

Side effects being photophobia and an inability to see your
reflection in the mirror.

One of those wooden ones? I had one once. There were a few bats in it until a woodpecker drilled a hole through it. What really pissed me off is that the woodpecker decided it didn't like its new home and soon left. The bats never returned afterwards.

I LOVE BATS!!!

I first fell in love with these creatures when my family took my brother and I to see the Grand Canyon. We stopped in Carlsbad on the way there and after taking a tour of the caverns, I insisted on watching the bat flight. SOOOOOOO COOL!!!

Amazingly, I went to school up in San Marcos, which is mid-way of Austin and San Antonio, and never did get to see the bat flights out of the various areas. Since I have family up there, I may still get the chance, but I wish I had gotten more into them when I was going to school there. I have a feeling I would have had so much fun!

Bats are my favorite mammals. I'd consider it an honor if I got dive-bombed by one.

I got "batted" the other night walking along the river..

I heard this little "neeth, neeth" bat noise and it landed on my head. Nasty things..

If you are ever camping in bat infested area though, take some marshmellows (sp, I know) and toss them up in the air and watch them just dissappear into the darkness.

Last week, a family 9-year-old's daycare had a bat-expert come each day to show slides and give talks about bats. The 9-year-old has been spouting fascinating information ever since about them. Really fascinating.
