'Visa Express' discontinued in Saudi Arabia

The State Department yesterday said that as of today it is ending its "Visa Express" program in Saudi Arabia and will require those seeking visas to apply in person and be interviewed.

The program is being terminated in response to criticism from Congress that it has allowed terrorists to enter the United States, a senior State Department official said.

for the State Department to make a move like this in ten months is a minor miracle considering the entreched liberals who inhabit the place. My brother works for the State Department and he tells me the Libs are stirred up like bee's over the latest proposals of restricting their ability to grant Visa's. They consider it a diplomatic ace card.

I consider this a major move in the right direction coming from the State Department.

President Bush has been slow off the ball where matters of immigration are concerned, even where it impacts the War on Terror. Ending visa express is a small step in the right direction, but as it stands, it doesn't appear Bush is even responsible for that bit of progress.
