True, except, many of the same Folks who would now definetly fall into the Bush Bot category, were the very same people who used to whine and moan about how stupid they thought the Clintonista type were for blindly defending everything Clinton did.

Realizing that it cannot be said without some degree of self-incrimination, I note that it's always easier to be objective about other people's opinions.

Said Homeland Security chief Tom Ridge: "The last thing we want is Americans spying on Americans. That's just not what the president is all about, and not what the TIPS program is all about." Here we have Ridge, in perhaps the most bold-faced lie I've seen in months, straight-faced telling us that 'we don't want Americans spying on Americans..."
UNBELIEVABLE! The COJONES of the guy to say that...
I get the feeling that if he were walking by a house that was engulfed in flames, and his friend said, "Look, Tom, that house is on fire!" Tom would glance over, and then, with a straight face, say, "Nah, that house isn't on fire..."

Again, I agree. However I've been here long enough to remember how many threads got started complaining about how the Clinton Supporters where retarded because based on sometimes the flimsyiest of evidence, they wouldn't side with those against Clinton. In some cases, Folks around here decided he was guilty of things based solely on some unnamed source.
Yet, the Bush Bots (many of whom posted wildly on those afore mentioned threads), will twist and contort like squids trying to protect and defend Bush.
In the face of TIPS, the Patriot Act, CFR, Drapes on Statues, the refusal to release documents (something the people from the afore mentioned threads wanted Clinton strung up by his nuts for) still cling to their defences of Bush and Company, just like the Clintonistas did.
It's just amusing, when asked the question, "what would you be saying if it was Clinton and Reno pushing for the things that Bush and Ashcroft are pushing for now" They simply make some snide comment about whoever askes the question, declares them a Liberal DU plant, then goes on to praise Dubya some more.
The ones I really love are those who now say that it's Traiterous and Unpatriotic to criticise Bush, because he's the President.
Well, with the vagueness of the Patriot Act, the newly watchful eyes of Big Brother via the Bush created TIPS program, and the full, unquestioning blind support of the Bush Bots, I suppose it won't be long before saying anything against Bush, or Government in general, will be considered a crime.

There are a total of 27 ex spurts on this thread and they are the same ones that were on the other thread and on the thread before that.
I would be very interested in any/all of them commenting on TIPS as it already exists in an informal way.
What about the trucking industry? They have been at it for a while.
Also the harbor/port group(s)?
To: Jimer
How about neither?
I don't buy your position that our only choices are to join the fascists or to die. There is another choice: stop them.
Easy? No. Most things worth having aren't. But usually you hit what you aim at. If you've resigned yourself to slavery and only aim for "slavery lite" that's the best you'll ever have.
To: Phantom Lord; Jimer
This is a bad idea with virtually no upside to it. If we are a freedom loving country we would be up in arms over the slightest mention of such a program being a possibility you've got that right! and when is the last time some liberty grabbing program was undone (as in not permanent)?

There is another choice: stop them.

In your second statement you make it crystal clear that you don't think we have any option but to go along.
To: alpowolf
Which second statement is "crystal clear"?

Where is the outrage from our so-called Conservative politicians?
To: freeeee; All
There is only ONE possibility. The TIPS program switches the burden of responsibility from "them" (the accuser, police, etc) of proving guilt to "us" (the person being hauled in) to prove our innocence. So much for "innocent until proven guilty". There's no requirement for a TIPS informent to actually have proof. Just suspicion. ..and there's suspicion enough to go around, isn't there?
>There are only two distinct possiblilities:
>1. TIPS grants no new powers to authorities, and is a useless program.
2. TIPS grants new powers to authorities, and these new powers can (and will) be abused.
>So, which is it?
