Local Man Accused

Of Threatening, Robbery

ENFIELD -- A 38-year-old local man is being held on charges that he threatened and robbed a man Saturday.

Antonio Spicer of 52 Willard Drive is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, threatening and sixth-degree larceny.

Enfield Superior Court Judge Jonathan J. Kaplan on Monday reduced Spicer's bail to $25,000 from the $100,000 set by police when he was arrested.

Police said Spicer stopped a young man around 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Hartford Avenue and demanded the man's money. Spicer took the man's cellphone and asked two others in the car where a gun was so he could kill the man, Deputy Police Chief Raymond Bouchard said.

As Spicer drove off, the young man held on to the window of the car until it shattered. The victim suffered cuts to his hands, Bouchard said.

The two others charged in the case were Alice Gibson, 41, and Shakur Khabir, 33. Gibson has been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and was released on a promise to appear. Khabir was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery and was released on a $1,000 bond.

Spicer told police the two had nothing to do with the crime, court officials said.
