I think there are some crimes that are prosecuted despite the wishes of the victim. Domestic violence is one- a police officer will arrest an individual for violence against a partner even though the victim may not want to press charges.

Since rape is a felony, the victim may not have any say in the matter. I'm curious as to why she wouldn't press charges though. Really odd.

Point taken, and thanks. It maybe that she does not want her name splattered all over the press, though that will probably happen any way.

Not to mention going through the usual defense lawyer line of questioning designed to portray her as dirty little tramp.
