I used to like you, but am beginning to lose respect for you.

There is a big difference between the government finding ways to give good healthcare and 'socialized medicine.' The govt. can work to expand private sector programs etc.

Looking at the thread in question, there are some things I am a bit concerned about that were said, but still it seems to fall far from 'socialized medicine' and that is an unfair characterization.

I know it may be a bit subtle for you, but there is some running room between the government subsidizing medical care for those that can't afford it, and the government "running" it via a single payer, single rate, doctors work only for the government system. But seeing the greys just doesn't seem to be the strong suit of a lot of supporters of a certain presidential candidate, albeit not all. In any event, I know it is more fun to recharacterize someone's views as way out of a limb, and then proceed to chop it off. Sometimes, if done with a high level of skill, the tactic even works. However, you skills tend to be more associated with pictures.
