We have been taught that General Franco was a friend of Adolf Hitler and consequently an anti-Semite. Our teacher: The world's most successful Defamation League, Soviet Russia's Comintern (Communist International). Why? Because General Franco, by winning the Spanish Civil War expelled the Soviet presence in Spain and thwarted Russia's hopes to make Spain another Iron Curtain country.
So, Ignoring the fact that Franco's ancestors were Marranos, Spanish Jews who converted to Christianity during the Middle Ages under threat of death or persecution, here is testimony from non-interested parties:
FRANCISCO FRANCO, BENEFACTOR OF THE JEWS: However general history may judge him, in Jewish history, he shall certainly occupy a special place... Jews should honor and bless the memory of this great benefactor of the Jewish people...who neither sought nor reaped any benefit from what he did.

James Michener in Iberia, 1968, page 547: "...Generalissimo Franco is highly regarded by Jews; during the worst days of World War II, when pressures from Hitler were at their heaviest, Franco refused to issue anti-Jewish edicts and instead provided a sanctuary, never violated, for Jews who managed to make it to Spain. Many thousands of Jews owe their lives to Franco, and this is not forgotten."
In Resolutions of the War Emergency Conference of the World Jewish Congress, Atlantic City, New Jersey, November 26-30, 1944, page 15: "The War Emergency Conference extends its gratitude to the Holy See and to the Governments of Sweden, Switzerland, and Spain... for the protection they offered under difficult conditions to the persecuted Jews of Hungary..."
In the Congressional Record of January 24, 1950, Rep. Abraham Multer quotes a spokesman for the Joint Distribution Committee: "During the height of Hitler's blood baths, upwards of 60,000 Jews had been saved by the generosity of Spanish authorities."
Newsweek, March 2, 1970: "...a respected U.S. rabbi has come forward with surprising evidence that tens of thousands of Jews were saved from Nazi ovens by the personal intervention of an unlikely protector. Spain's Generalissimo Franco, in so many other respects a wartime collaborator of Adolf Hitler. "I have absolute proof that Franco saved more than 60,000 Jews during World War II," says Rabbi Chaim Lipscitz of Brooklyn's Torah Vodaath and Mesitva rabbinical seminary.

General Francisco Franco of Spain was another leader whose ideological sympathies with National Socialism led him to the brink of a close alliance with the Reich. Like Salazar, however, he refrained from completely crossing that line. In March 1939, Spain concluded the Anti-Comintern Pact with Nazi Germany (it augmented the secret treaties for diplomatic and economic cooperation of March and July 1937). And as of June 13, 1940, Franco moved Spain from neutrality to nonbelligerency, which reflected unambiguous sympathy for the Axis . . .With respect to immigration and transmigration policies, the Spanish were similar to other neutrals: there was a general reluctance to accommodate refugees. Requirements for visas were both stringent and variable, and the Spanish bureaucracy frequently created nightmarish situations for those trying to flee the Nazis. . .
One historian has stated that 28,000 fugitives were smuggled across the French-Spanish border during the war, including 20,000 Frenchmen (many of whom later fought for De Gaulle's Free French forces28). The Spanish, then, were much like the Swiss when it came to assisting refugees: while they attempted to discourage those seeking asylum, in the end they did save a number of lives. . .
In return for German arms, Franco eventually provided valuable mineral resources and other raw materials to the Reich. By the end of the Spanish Civil War and the onset of World War II, Franco had incurred significant debts to the Germans and this increased Hitler's leverage over the Generalissimo. On December 22, 1939, Spain and Germany signed a treaty in which Franco "agreed to reserve the greater part of [his nation's] exports for Germany, in particular iron ore, zinc, lead, mercury, wolfram, wool, and hides."30 Spain, then, contributed significantly to the German war effort, at least up to the autumn of 1942 . . .

Jews know that Franco was helpful to many Jews escaping the Nazis. Has even been speculated that Franco had some kind of part Jewish background. This is common knowledge and what the ADL thinks is irrelevant. And of course what you say about the ADL is even more irrelevant.
The longer I live and learn, the less appealing the communist movement becomes. They have no shame, yet they obsess over humiliation. Many in academia - Marxist historians like the oh-so-repulsive Eric Foner come to mind - continue to churn out revisionist sludge slandering anyone who stood up to the Comintern.
For carrying an eternal grudge, first place is a toss-up: Islam is still po'd about getting booted from Spain, and so is its secular socialist counterpart.
Only learned that recently. We were taught in school Franco was evil incarnate.
The lies they tell? (just a guess)
