The culture didn't sentence that girl to be raped, a few corrupt, evil judges and townspeople did. If rape-as-punishment were the usual penalty within a culture, don't you think that we would be reading about incidents like this every day? Now that the word is out, well, it does seem that we hear about teenage rape, or stonings, or lashings of women every day, in the muslim world. For crimes such as they uncovered their face, or were raped. Or, like this story, were related to a man who had sex with another woman
