Some people may consider today to actually be day 26, but I count 1 day for each
24 hours that have passed since Elizabeth was kidnapped. Elizabeth was taken from her home
at about 1:30am on the morning of June 5th, 2002.

Short Timeline

May 30th, 2002 -Thursday
~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it
He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.

June 4th, 2002 - Tuesday
~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm
~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends

June 5th, 2002 - Wednesday
~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard
~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home
~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife.
~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today.
~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it.
~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

June 6th, 2002 - Thursday
~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm
~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)

June 8th, 2002 - Saturday
~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fix. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci
remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains
other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger tool was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes
this also from the Jeep. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag
and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since
Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.

June 14th, 2002 - Friday
~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being the 2001 robbery of the Smart Home in which he admitted to.



A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy HEATED discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come on this thread and make posts that will disrupt this thread. The best thing to do it not to bring attention to these post or reply to them.

Sorry... but if all of you start reading the media stories, their is a conflict in what maybe the mechanic has been telling the media. First it was reported that the mechanic said the Jeep disappeared off his lot, then Ricci brought it back. (more reports have been stated like this and are still being reported like this).

Then there are reports that the mechanic claims that Ricci came in an actually picked it up and then returned it.

I personally have seen the mechanic say it both ways on the news channels that were interviewing him... the last time I heard it, he was saying it disappeared from the lot and no mention of Ricci picking it up.

Either the media has it wrong or the mechanic does. What I have seen it is the mechanic that does not know what really happened, is he changing his story? Are we sure that Ricci picked it up?, maybe Ricci lent it to someone and had them pick it up. Then they returned the Jeep to Ricci and Ricci returned it to the shop. It just another twist in this case and this is why the police are having a hard time. What version did the police get from the mechanic?

Elizabeth's brother said that his mother screamed when she saw the cut screen in the kitchen. This seemed unusual to me. I would have thought she would have screamed earlier, when told Elizabeth has been kidnapped at gun point. Maybe this means nothing at all.

IMHO, based upon her ability to accurately read posts on FR, her ability to accurately read the Fox crawler is suspect.

Sounds like Ricci knows he'd better distance himself from that Jeep.

The father-in-law and the wife both claim the Jeep never had seat covers in the first place. They could be lying ... OR ... the seat covers could have been installed "for the occasion" after he picked up the vehicle from the repair shop on May 30 and before he returned it on June 8.

The fact that wifey is now remembering that Ricci lost his keys in April, and suggesting that someone found them and used them to pick up the van and subsequently return it, is a clear sign she's getting desperate. A car thief who borrows and returns Jeeps with with witnesses in both instances -- sure.

They both seem to be digging a nice hole for themselves without need for the posthole digger.

I really don't remember what all you posted... I think you where mainly thinking that she ran away. Yes everyone is welcome here... but like a said, the thread is about what is in the daily news across the board. There is nothing in the daily news thats implies that she ran away or that the family is involved. The majority of the people here are more interest in what seems to factual and what is being reported daily in the news. For people who wish to think something else happened to her at this time... like she ran away, her family sold her off, the family killed her to hide their own secrets, etc... Well there is alot of room on FR for people to start a new thread about these theories. If you think the only answer to her disappearance is because she ran away, then the current Ricci lead and daily news on Ricci, probably would not be of interest to you. Now don't get me wrong... she may have ran away... BUT nothing is pointing in that direction at this time and no evidence ever did point in the direction that she ran away. If the police thought she was a runaway, they would have said that and also they never would have put out the Rachel Alert on her.

Klaas' questions about why the Smart family is refusing to have the nation's leading sketch artist work with the sister are entirely illegitmate. INstead of heaping abuse on this man, perhaps you should question why it is the Smarts are refusing to do this. Could it be the sister didn't see anything at all? Could it be the family does not want an accurate sketch released because they don't want the man MK saw to be found? There is no evidence at all that Klaas has any "personal agenda" beyond solving the case. Perhaps you should take his criticisms a bit more seriously.

it's the media or the mechanic, but I have heard both versions come from his mouth on TV... On Ashleigh Banfield he claimed Ricci picked it up, then on Primetime live (I think), he said it just disappeared and then Ricci brought it back. Also the media is doing the same. One story will say he said Ricci picked it up and other stories will say that he said it just disappeared. But there is no doubt in both versions that Ricci was the one that returned the Jeep to the shop.

You can verify the conflict if you start reading all the different news stories. Maybe someone who has been watch TV like me can verify also that they have heard the guy say it both ways.

On the Banfield interview, the mechanic made it clear that a woman called and Ricci picked it up. I haven't seen even a hint that the mechanic's claim is disputed - except by the Riccis. Please cite some sources.

Mechanics have access to a huge pool of vehicles which they can use to engage in relatively anonymous mischief or rent them to those who would. Cf. mob-run auto shops in New Jersey or terror-run auto shops in OKC. If this is such an establishment, he would have sufficient motive to point the finger at someone else and away from hisown complicity.

I don't think that mechanic is trying to frame Ricci, but I think he may be crossed up on the facts. The problem is the police/FBI have the burden of proving that Ricci did have the Jeep with him, when Ricci says it was in the shop.

Go back and read post #27... he is a hired reporter for FOX, he even admitted it. You have your opinion I have mine. I voiced mine, you responded and you have voiced yours, I am now responding.
