Some people may consider today to actually be day 26, but I count 1 day for each
24 hours that have passed since Elizabeth was kidnapped. Elizabeth was taken from her home
at about 1:30am on the morning of June 5th, 2002.

Short Timeline

May 30th, 2002 -Thursday
~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it
He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.

June 4th, 2002 - Tuesday
~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm
~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends

June 5th, 2002 - Wednesday
~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard
~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home
~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife.
~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today.
~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it.
~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself)
~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)

June 6th, 2002 - Thursday
~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm
~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)

June 8th, 2002 - Saturday
~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fix. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci
remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains
other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger tool was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes
this also from the Jeep. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag
and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since
Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.

June 14th, 2002 - Friday
~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being the 2001 robbery of the Smart Home in which he admitted to.



A note to the people who read this thread because they hope and pray that Elizabeth will be returned to her family and who wish to stay up to date with the facts in the case. Please do not let yourself get sucked into a heavy HEATED discussion or argument from someone who wishes to come on this thread and make posts that will disrupt this thread. The best thing to do it not to bring attention to these post or reply to them.

mechanic could've ASSUMED that the ex-
con took the Jeep, because of the call
from the "wife" that he needed it, and
because the mechanic was present when
Ricci returned the Jeep. Apparently,
some interpret discrepancies in how a
thing is twice or thrice told, when it
could be a mere misunderstanding, as a
MAJOR CONFLICT. I don't see that FNC
ever said Ricci is ruled out, either.
Not a suspect is what cops always said
anyway. His "alibi holds up"? What on
earth does that literally mean? Wifey
sticks to her story? My guess is that
FNC was misunderstood, like you said
the mechanic was. But time will tell!

The father-in-law and the wife both claim the Jeep never had seat covers in the first place. They could be lying ...

The fact that wifey is now remembering that Ricci lost his keys in April, and suggesting that someone found them and used them to pick up the van and subsequently return it, is a clear sign she's getting desperate

Yes that is what it sounds like to me.

I think he is trying to keep himself from being tied to the Jeep (despite an eyewitness mechanic and records) because he is either afraid of what they might find or he is afraid someone will come forward who spotted his Jeep out on the night of kidnapping (or videotape?) catching him lying big time about his alibi.

The cops are probably asking him for the bag of items and he can't produce the items so he is just denying he was ever there and ever did such a thing.

Why would Ricci and his wife and her parents say there is no way Ricci took the Jeep? Also Angela claims to had no idea the Jeep was even taken out because it must not have been parked at the trailor that whole time. That's too weird because why would you not mention taking out the Jeep to your wife and keep it away from his trailor home unless you have something to hide with regards to the Jeep.

The only possible explanation is the mechanic is lying for some reason but I don't really believe that.

Also the cops will find out if Angela is lying about when she went to bed (she said 1 or 2 oclock after watching tv). The cops probably asked her what tv shows she was watching that night to see if they match up. My personal feeling is that she zonked out after taking medication much earlier than that. She woke up at 6 so that was only like 4-5 hours sleep that night and she had to go to something important that day didn't she? Oh well just a thought.

FOX news reporting interview w/ neighbors...saying they heard noises, heard a LOUD car go screeching down the road from the hill..also heard a scream..Neighbor doesn't think it's adults. Also, SEVERAL neighbors have reported this to the police, and ALL say that NONE of them have been contacted by the police to discuss this...Hmmmm..

The mechanic could be lying. This should be easy to prove one way or the other, since the mechanic said the guy waiting for Ricci was using the pay phone across the street and the police are solicitng the phone records for the phone.

I'm sure the mechanic laid awake nights trying to figure out a way to frame Ricci.

How 'bout this: the mechanic's buddy had to build a shed and needed a vehicle to carry tools and lumber. The mechanic knows Ricci won't be getting his Jeep for a few weeks yet, loans it to his buddy.

Now, out of the blue, the FBI wants to know about the jeep. The mechanic is looking for a way to admit that the jeep wasn't on the lot for a few days, without admitting to any criminal wrongdoing.

Uh, it disappeared, then reappeared. Huh? It's OK, Ricci had it. How do I know? Because he brought it back. It disappeared and Ricci brought it back. Why didn't I report it stolen when I noticed it missing? Uh, uh... Well um... Mrs. Ricci called and said he would come get it. That's right. She called. I didn't do anything wrong.

BTW, i like TheDon's and your posts, and his thread to move some of the more off-the-wall, though not necessarily incorrect, discussion seemed like a good idea. The moderator deep-sixed it after everyone had their say, and on we go. Some deal with stress such as this in different ways, but posters and lurkers are here because they care (i hope).
