I read the article. Yes, Klaas is working for Fox. That means what?

Read the articles that have posted...on previous threads. If you want a quick answer... I don't have the time right now, but if you start reading the news reports from several onlune media sources you will find the conflict... Yes... on AB, he said that Ricci picked it up, but later on another show (primetime live, maybe) he said is just disappeared! Maybe Primetime live has a transcript online?

To the people who feel it is unfair not to discuss sinister family involvement theories, runaway theories, National Enquirer theories on this thread ARE more than welcome to start a new thread on FR about these theories.

The moderator won't allow this type of thread. I tried. Oh well. We'll just have to tolerate them. I got it out of my system.

I am not trying to be everyones Mommy here, but if you see a post that has some theory you do not believe in... then why reply to them? It just seems these Tinfoil people are just dying to get a reply from someone that will continue to disagree with them. Why try to convince them they are possibly wrong?

I'll take this good advice. I'll be good, honestly!

MSNBC does seem to have much better coverage of this story than FoxNews.

Or am I included in the "sinister family involvement theories" group that is now being asked to leave?

Freedox, don't go. I'll be good, course I can't speak for others! ;) I'm glad you appreciated my sense of humor, it seemed lost on others.

INstead of heaping abuse on this man, perhaps you should question why it is the Smarts are refusing to do this. Could it be the sister didn't see anything at all? Could it be the family does not want an accurate sketch released because they don't want the man MK saw to be found? There is no evidence at all that Klaas has any "personal agenda" beyond solving the case. Perhaps you should take his criticisms a bit more seriously.

This has been hashed and rehashed on the daily FR threads, but for your benefit:

1) Do you think it is plausible that the police/FBI might have thought of bringing in a sketch artist all by themselves?
2) Do you think that a sketch might have been attempted - with inconclusive results. After all, they do have resources other than those blessed by Marc Klaas.
3) It was dark. MK most likely didn't get a good frontal look at the perp, seeing only black hair and black hair on the hands, that we know of AND possibly tatoos which the police have refused to confirm or deny.
4) Marc Klaas is now part of the "Missing Children" industry. He now makes his living from the suffering of others. While he has our sympathy for his personal loss, being a victim doesn't make him an expert on finding missing children alive. He was under contract to Fox and therefore not acting as an honest broker when he showed up at the Smarts. The Smarts first considered working with him, but instead chose the Laura foundation from Texas to guide them through the search process.
5) Marc also whined about Elizabeth's uncle Tom exerting too much influence on the family, preventing Boylan from being allowed to do a sketch. I have a hot flash for Marc. The police do not need uncle Tom's or even the parents permission to have MK work with a sketch artist. This is a federal crime (kidnapping).

You can defend him if you wish. It's a free country - except for income taxes, sales taxes, road taxes, gas taxes, airline taxes, excise taxes, etc., etc.

Could Mrs. Ricci be doing some Clintonspeak??

"He was with me in bed the night of Elizabeth's abduction".....this could mean the nite of the DATE of her abduction meaning if she was taken on the wee hours of the MORNING...2-3 Sunday the 1st and Ricci was in bed with the Missus the NIGHT of Sunday the 1st!! It could happen.

I don't see how working for Fox negates anyone's status as an honest broker, unless the girl is chained up in Rupert Murdoch's basement.

The fact of the matter is the Smarts are a prominent Mormon family and the entire political structure of Utah, including the SLCPD has as their primary directive upholding the image of the Mormon church. I have no reason not to think the SLCPD wouldn't defer to Uncle Tom's wishes on this. The FBI is the wild card here, but I'm not at all sure they could get a sketch artist of their own choosing to work with Mary K despite the opposition of the Smarts, the SLCPD and the Mormon church. Maybe they could.

They both seem to be digging a nice hole for themselves without need for the posthole digger.

Nice.

LOL! I've promised to be good, so I won't comment on the remainder of your thread. 0:^)

An interesting development. Thinking back on the AB interview, they seemed to skim pretty quick over when the car was taken, except to say that a woman called. Perhaps the call was made so that the mechanic would not become suspicious when the car disappeared from the lot? Ricci, or someone else could have taken it then. Perhaps in these interviews an assumption was made, either by the mechanic, or AB, that the vehicle was taken by Ricci. I would hope the GJ got to the bottom of this, even if there is some confusion in the media.

You are showing your ignorance of both Mormon influence on the police and the police deference to wanting this case solved. While the Mormon church is the largest denomination in SLC, Mormons are no longer even a majority and definitely not a majority on the police force - based upon my one pesonal experiences related previously.

If you think for a minute that the church would cover up for the Smarts or any other evil doer, you are very mistaken.

MSNBC seems to move along with the story as it progresses daily, FOX seems to rehash old news over and over again. ;-)

Don't get me wrong I do watch FOX, but I do surf other news channels and I have been very interested in Ashleigh Banfields reporting in the evenings on Monday through Thursday. It is not the "in your face" type of reporting, but is still fair and balanced.

I know you only meant good with starting the other thread. I think FR would allow them to have a thread to discuss theories that the police and FBI are not following at this time.

I am not thinking "mainly" or "only" that Elizabeth is a runaway. You yourself, in your own post, acknowledge that "she may have ran away." At this point, I am still examining ALL of the angles in this case......until there is an arrest and/or conviction, I will probably continue to do so. As I have said before, I don't believe for one minute that the police are showing us all of their cards on this thing. I don't expect them to.

Your request that posters adhere ONLY to what is being reported by the mainstream media defeats the purpose of FreeRepublic. There are views and theories out there that all of us find distasteful......however, as long as appropriate guidelines are followed, this forum allows everyone to share his or her opinions. Thus far, the posts that I have seen removed by the moderators have NOT come from those of us who are considering alternative theories.....rather, they have come from those who have attempted to discredit and ridicule us. That should tell you something.

I appreciate your dedication to these threads, and enjoy having a place to share ideas on it. As long as we adhere to FreeRepublic guidelines, I think we can all continue to enjoy it.

I have to get off here until after 10pm tonight. I'll see what I can find on the mechanics story tonight and how it has been flip flopping in the media reports. I cannot verify what I saw on TV as someone else would have also had to caught the different TV news' shows interviewing the mechanic, unless we can pull up some transcipts of these shows.

Until Later...Brigette

"He lost his keys. Someone stole his keys in April," she said. "For some reason the FBI won't question this person that was with him when his keys were stolen, so he is not the only person that had keys to that Jeep."

Oh, he LOST his keys...Someone STOLE his keys...well, that explains everything, including why it was RICCI who brought the Jeep back to the shop covered in mud. It wasn't really him. It was that other "person that had keys to that Jeep".

Did you see this interview, lsee? The only one that I saw, was on FOX with Greta, but she (Greta) didn't ask some pertinent questions regarding the JEEP. Like someone previously stated, there certainly would have to be receipts from a hardware store, etc., to prove that he had to replace the keys. (Not that that would really prove or disprove anything.) That is assuming that he had 2nd key. Otherwise, he would have had to have the key made by a dealership, or a locksmith. It seems as though Angela is digging a deeper hole for here husband, IMO.

No, I didn't see the interview, but I have to say it will be very difficult, knowing the character and background of the Ricci family and friends, to take anything any of them says at face value, that is, as the truth. I feel for them, if indeed Ricci is innocent of this matter, yet this proves my training of my kids to develop a reputation for truthfulness. "Because SOMEDAY," I tell them, "It will be very important to be BELIEVED." Even if these people are telling the truth, their reputations will make it difficult for them to be believed, now, when it matters.
