I'm with LWalk18 on this one. Evil comes in all shades, shapes, sizes and gender. Color is irrelevant, it's what she did that is unspeakable.

Again, we - or at least I - am not, and have not been, claiming that a person's race somehow predisposes them to want to kill their children. My beef is with government officials who refuse to release names and media outlets that refuse to report certain names because they might make the reader/viewer think said person was black, and "it wouldn't be right for us to perpetuate racial stereotypes, now would it?"

Not that the media was covering up in this particular case, but they do very often, often in ways that are literally dangerous to the communities they are supposed to serve. For example, if a murderer is on the loose in town and they have a detailed description of the suspect and even a name, news outlets will often refuse to mention his race if he is black. You'll learn that he's 5'11" and 180 lbs and was last seen wearing a blue windbreaker and a pair of khakis, but they won't tell you he's black. This directly and severely impedes the ability of the public to watch out for said murderer. All in the name of political correctness. It is wrong, and eventually somebody's going to die because of it.

I appreciate your opinion and agree with you in part. It is necessary, I feel, when describing a criminal for the purposes of a "be on the lookout" for a criminal who is on the run, to include all pertinent information, including race. This being PC is getting way out of hand, IMHO. However, I still don't see why it is necessary, in this case, to include race when reporting a story. She was already in custody. Except maybe to the locals, who cares what her name is when the story first breaks, it's not relevent. It's not a racial issue, it's unfortunately another "mother killed her babies" issue that is beginning to loom larger than life in our country.
