He has done so on three notable occasions

Well that is one convenient memory....the farm bill and the education bills are anything but conservative and as egregious as the steel quotas.

Except for 9/11 and related matters, Bush has at best been a mediocre President thus far....but mediocre is not all that bad, as there has been one outstanding President, two horrible, and the remaining mediocre since 1968.

I think I know which President you consider outstanding - and he expressed the extent to which "talk" and symbolism are important. That guy didn't reduce the funding for a single Great Society program by one dollar, much less abolish any of them - he cut the amount of increased funding, which by itself set the "hive" abuzz. The proliferation of vile people in our country means it is difficult to make the changes we'd like - but W was the best available at the time, and worlds better than Algore. And, remember, Hughes has less influence now.

That is funny. sort of reminds me of the old joke: "Except, for that Mrs. Lincoln, what did you think of the play?"

That outstanding president, I am assuming you mean Reagan, signed a similar farm bill, and spent money like a drunken sailor.

He's still, by far, the greatest conservative president in my lifetime.

"..since 1968."

Why did you omit a front runner for the title of the worst and lowest SOB to ever hold the office, the one that may have killed a president so that he could take office in 1963? His only competition for worst and lowest is FDR, and the issue of who was the worst may never be actually decided since we are unlikely to learn the truth about the assassination when Jake Ruby died. In the final analysis, socialism could not have been imposed on us were it not for FDR.

Odd, isn't it, how Bush has all these high poll ratings, supposedly, and on Free Republic--his home town, so to speak--he can only get 64% good or excellent? To me, that is the most eloquent refutation of the article.
