This is totally a vanity question. We have always depended on Audiogalaxy for MP3 downloads. It was comprehensive and reliable. I don't know what happened to it, some of the chatroom talk is that it was shut down. Any Freepers know?
Are there any other good sites for music downloads? Thanks.

Would it have something to do with the $0.0007 royalties?
To: PLK
It's the settlement of their lawsuit with the RIAA. Now they are blocking everything except files they actually have permission from the artist or the record company to share.
It's time to uninstall. I sure don't need all those popup ads when I'm not getting anything for it.
I, also, hear good things about winmx. But I'm also getting into .shn trading. High quality stuff.

I use WinMX and Kazaa Lite (no spyware) and Kazaa Lite is by far the best.
Get it here.

I get mine at:
www.kazaalite.com - same as kazaa but with no spyware.
www.oldversion.com - Winmx works well but only the old version (2.6) works for me.
www.mirc.com - the Dalnet mp3 chatrooms are still very good.

So far, Gnucleus has been the best I've found. No pop-ups or spyware. And it doesn't work off of a main server. Blows everything else away I've used yet:

I downloded Morpheus 1.9 last night. Is there a problem with Morpheus? They say the new version has no spyware.

They say the new version has no spyware. They say Russia no longer has a KGB.

Got a time-out on that link. Is it the site or the link?

Try winMX. Pretty reliable, NO spyware, and a good selection.

Mine's working ok. You have to click on it several times. If it still doesn't work, you can download it at CNET. They also have user reviews for it:

Thanks. It worked this time.
On the gnotella network I use "Clean LimeWire". (a google search will show you the current location.
Pay attention to the install, read everything or the spam will come back.

Gnucleus doesn't have any of that, but the network is still kind of small. Most of the time I find what I'm looking for, but not always. It has a real user friendly interface. Hopefully plugging it in here will help draw more people to it and build it up.

Have fun, and stay legal...see these for starters:

People who wouldn't EVER shoplift a gallon of milk from their local 7-11, burn many CD's full of copyrighted material. Strange.
The RIAA just needs to get their members to set-up a download service that has the contents of all major artists albums available for $1.00 or so per track. I would be more than happy with that.

The RIAA just needs to get their members to set-up a download service that has the contents of all major artists albums available for $1.00 or so per track. Over the years I've spent thousands of dollars on music and continue to purchase cds. I'm a member of Columbia House and BMG. Recently I bought one which was copyproof protected. I pay $15.00 for a disk and can't record it to my computer? I just downloaded the songs as mp3s and would do it again.
The music industry is too greedy and needs to understand consumers want the right to do with their music as they please.
BTW, I would be willing to pay the $1.00 fee also, as long as there's no time limit to the music and I can make copies of it and burn it to disc. I should have the right to do that.
