Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: A blind man had a slave-mother who used to abuse the Prophet and disparage him. He forbade her but she did not stop. He rebuked her but she did not give up her habit. One night she began to slander the Prophet and abuse him. So he took a dagger, placed it on her belly, pressed it, and killed her. A child who came between her legs was smeared with the blood that was there. When the morning came, the Prophet was informed about it. He assembled the people and said: I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right to him that he should stand up. Jumping over the necks of the people and trembling the man stood up.

He sat before the Prophet and said: Apostle of Allah! I am her master; she used to abuse you and disparage you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not abandon her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was my companion. Last night she began to abuse and disparage you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her. Thereupon the Prophet said: Oh be witness, no retaliation is payable for her blood.

Oh sure. About #1 and #4 Sura 2:190-193 says to "slay them" (the unbelievers) Sura 9:5 says "slay the pagans wherever you find them" Sura 5:51 commands Muslims not to take Jews and Christians as friends. And #2, Sura 4:34 says "Men are the managers of the affairs of women" and rebellious women are to be beaten. Why bother with every "true conception?"

Mohammed was educated by private Jewish and Christian turors when he was a boy. His desire was to unite the Arab world in religious unity, as he saw how that unity benefited the Jews and Christians. His original intent was to create a sect of Jewdiasm, but the Jews flatly rejected his views as heresy.

He decided that the Arabs needed one god to worship, because they were worshipping about 100,00 different gods at the time. From the plethora of idols worshipped, he chose Allah, the moon-god.

The koran was not compiled by him, but by his followers. Whenever he would speak, a stenographer would record his speaches and the transcripts would be saved in a basket...the older speaches on the bottom. Later, it was decided to complie all of the transcripts into one text. Since the most recent writings were on top, they were recorded first, all the way to the oldest. Today, when reading the koran, the oldest of his sayings are at the back and the newest, at the front. You'll notice that the newest are the most vicious and restrictive, because as his following grew, so did his rejection and hence, we see his anger against those that don't hold his views.

Silly me. I've been guilty of so many of these very misconceptions! But now I realize that islam is a religion of peace and tolerance.

So, I'm sure the Saudi government would be glad to let me set up a little mail order business to their citizens. I'm thinking of getting some nice printing done...little pithy sayings about ol' 'hammed that I've come up with...and selling them for a few bucks a whack. All in a spirit of fun, of course. A touch of parody could lighten up matters wonderfully.

And I'll bet the folks over there would like some nice picture calendars - say, of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders for the males, and of the Chippendales for their wives and daughters.
