How wide were the largest fires, frontally? Do they begin to behave in different ways from "typical" forest fires that are 5 to 20 miles wide?
(The Denver fire I think is up to 50 miles wide. They are not even fighting it in front, just trying to channelize it on the sides.)

For comparison sake, I seem to recall that a Eucalyptus (bluegum) is more flammable than a Pine tree.
