No, the parents agreed to take the lie detector tests, they have no objections, it just hasn't been done yet. But the police are saying they're very cooperative, there's no foot-dragging by the family at all, apparently. This is an abduction, it seems to me, and as they seem to think the creep somehow has met Elizabeth somewhere in the past at some event, perhaps he will be less willing to injure her, and will release her soon. At least we can all hope for that.
Someone mentioned something about the guy maybe being a fan of hers, perhaps he's seen her at some musical event, or the theatrical events they've been showing on the news. He may have spotted her and started obsessing. Let's just hope this turns out that he's unwilling to harm her.

I am hoping she ran away with a crush and the 9 year old covered but somehow I think she would have come clean as soon as she saw the parents being devastated. This is just so sad and scary. I feel for those parents, every hour lessens the chance of her being alive. I hope this is not a messed up family like the ramseys.

Did anyone see "America's Most Wanted" tonight? There was a short segment on Elizabeth. Most significantly, they stated that the 9-year-old sister pretended to sleep through the kidnapping. But this contradicts the widely reported fact that the younger daughter was told not to tell her parents or her sister would be hurt. I tend to believe the original story and write this off as sloppy reporting. If it were true, why would the sister have waited two hours to tell her parents? (Another minor detail AMW got wrong was saying that the Federal Heights neighborhood is a suburb of SLC----in fact, it is just a neighborhood, like Soho is a neighborhood in New York City.)

Darn, I was out this evening. Thanks for the details, I wonder how often America's Most Wanted gets things wrong.

Just seen this update from KSL homepage Update: Police have met with a man they wanted for questioning earlier in the day Saturday, and ruled him out as a suspect.

Thanks for that information too. She has just literally vanished into thin air. All we can do is pray.

Why were at least 10 people in that home in the middle of the night between the disappearance and the police arrival if the 9 yr old waited 2 hours to tell her parents? It sounds like Grand Central Station. You don't know Latter-day Saints. These neighbors likely were very much a part of each others lives beyond attending the same congregation on Sunday. The neighbors responded quickly rather than waiting for the police or government, after all most problems can be solved without the government. Unfortunate that no one thought of protecting the scene. Panic, fear and trying to believe that it couldn't really be that bad could all be factors in that poor judgement. Let's hope that everyone is wiser about this in the future.
"Everyone is still a suspect," Capt. Atkinso said
Would that he were there when Condit was being questioned about Chandra Levy.

What about Polly Klaas? She wasn*t blonde or from an upscale family, but was snatched from her home as well. There are just too many perverted sickos in this world, is what it boils down to.

A small little barking dog is a great backup and a pair of 150 lb rotties is a great first line ;-)

I'm sure as soon as the Smarts talked to the police, they called their bishop, their home teachers, etc from their ward. I know that would be what I would do in the same situation.

I wonder if this guy left a note*... Colorado *is* a neighboring state, and the Ramsey's had recently had remodeling work done as well. It would be a nice kick in the pants for some folks I know police catch this guy, and his DNA matches that found under JBR's fingernails and in her panties.
*BTW, no analysis of the infamous note in Jbr's case ever said Patsy probably wrote it. "Possibly" wrote it is as good as they got. That's a huge distinction and I'm sick of folks twisting that info all around.)

As a matter of fact part of my immediate family is LDS. I know how they supported and more when my 23 y/o cousin was killed in a construction accident. But still.....everyone needs to know what to do in a possible criminal case.
LE should make this a priorty to communicate in all communties, IMO. It is so important.
More prayers going out for all the victims.

Just a thought....... Perhaps that the abductor picked Elizabeth's house at random. Maybe he had tried to enter other houses in the same neighborhood that night but was unable to enter them and found easy access to her house? In which case, the ground, doors, and windows of houses in the area need to be checked for possible signs of attempted entry.

It's certainly a possibility too. It wouldn't be good though. The more emotionally connected to her the perp is, the more likely she is alive.

>>>>>>I have a real problem with that drawing - it is almost a cartoon thug. I'm still wondering if the 9 year old is covering.<<<<<
I thought the same thing, it looks like a cartoon. Actually, it reminds me of a movie I saw as a child, in which the thug it resembles was known as "The Creeper".
