Fears of racial profiling did impede the FBI's terrorism investigation of Arab men, Director Robert S. Mueller III testified yesterday, even as he pledged that his agents will not engage in the practice.

"I've seen indications of concerns about taking certain action, because that action may be perceived as profiling," Mr. Mueller told the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Robert Mueller won't do his job because doing his job would be to give offense. Watch out, America.

Let's call it religious profiling and end this silly debate. Americans, black, white and hispanic;muslims from everywhere, europeans of muddle east descent, blonde converts and balkan residents are all muslims. These silly debates will end when something happens here - as we seem to keep being warned, even by the prez, in his speech today.

It is called Racism. Bigotry. Do you people hear yourselves? You are essentially supporting ethnic/religious discrimination, and condemning the government for not practicing enough of it!??

For a government agent or "luggage screener" to subject to harrassing scrutiny someone they know not to be a security threat is a counterproductive exercise. Not only does it generate ill will by the person who is harrassed, but it distracts from the task of finding real security threats. This is true regardless of the race or religion of the person being harrassed.

Selecting people for heightened scrutiny purely on the basis of race is a bad idea not only because it involves harrassing people for something they cannot change, but also because it may distract government personnel from noticing other people who aren't the targetted race but in fact pose more of a threat. On the other hand, selecting people purely on the basis that they're not members of a suspect race is no less evil and counterproductive.

Profiling is using one part of your defenses to protect yourself or others. I get uneasy when going through the seamier areas in our cities. Any damned fool knows that it is best to stay out of these areas. You are being profiled yourself as a good target if apprehended for having some cash or valuables.

Terrorists are profiling potential law enforcement officers in the same manner as they are being profiled themselves. To be innocent of profiling, you would have to be brain-dead. Perhaps this is the reason it is so appealing as an issue to some of our officials.

"profiling is another name for sin...don't people ever learn?"

My reply to the above...profiling is another name for common sense. Don't people care about survival? Those who oppose profiling need to watch the Daniel Pearl execution.

Yeah, OR, that 90 yr old grandma and the 3 yr old with the Mickey Mouse and the uniformed Marine are just as likely to be terrorists as the person from an Arabic country that has sworn "Death to America".

Get f'in real you moron. Do you really believe the above?
Do you think it's not a waste of resources to strip search grandma and ignore the swarthy Muslim male behind her?
How many 3 yr olds were wielding box cutters to kill over 3000 Americans?

Nonsense.

Does Omega Raven believe that if a woman is raped, 52% of the suspects should be women?
