Questions left tree hugger speechless.

I work in an office filled with liberal Boulder Colorado wannabes. (People who think and act like Citizens of the Peoples Republic of Boulder but can't afford to live there.) It does make for interesting Lunch roon conversation.

Yesterday, we were talking about the drought in Colorado. A natural reoccuring phenomena compounded by growth without planning. Unless you are a tree hugger, and then it is "Just another piece of evidence of Global warming." This is where the fun started, without letting on that I think Global warming is a hoax perpetrated by NGOs that hate our private property rights, I started asking questions. In the end, she was left speechless.

What is Global warming? I asked, and soon realized through a series of fragmented answers such as the hole in the ozone layer, too many fossil fuels in the atmosphere, that she had no clue what it was or wasn't. I then asked my next question

Well then, how do you explain Colorado being a Rain Forest millions of years ago? Who polluted the atmosphere to cause it to become semi-arid?

Sputter-sputter, - no answer-

Next question- how do you explain the fact that in the early 1900s, the pollution was far greater than it is now, why didn't Global warming occur then?" What caused the drought in the early 30s? If it was Global warming, why aren't we still in a drought? Does Global warming come and go?

Sputter-Sputter- Then a mumbling something about "there are too many people on this earth, we need to stop the population explosion."

What do you suppose we should do about that? Start killing them? Do you want to volunteer to die, to help this problem?

Sputter-sputter-" we should sterilize people after they have had a baby. "

So, the majority of this earth is either Muslim or Catholic and do not believe in this. Do we go into these countries with guns and perform these sterilizations by force? How do you think we should accomplish this?

sputter-sputter-" We need to do it through the UN."

So are you willing to have a Russians, Chinese, Palestinians tell you what you can and can't do in America. Are you willing for them to tell you where you can go, how many children you can have, what language you can speak, what job you can hold? in order to "protect the environment" and lower the population? Are you willing to give up your freedoms based on unproven junk science?

sputter-sputter- Well I have to get back to work."

It is so much fun backing them into a corner. Now, I will leave the latest studies by noted scientists on the lunch table for anyone to read. Step-by-step, one at a time. I know that it isn't quite honest, but liberals will listen to you if they don't think you are a radical conservative Christian. Plant the seed of doubt and it will grow. Assuming they have something to plant it in.

Does Global warming come and go?

Sure it does. During every election year, there is a sharp increase in the amount of hot air in the atmosphere.

My favorite is to point out that the sun is a massive, uncontrolled, FUSION REACTION spewing its waste products directly at the earth. You can easily feel the effect by standing in the sun for mere minutes, whereas you could live a lifetime next to Three Mile Island and never get cancer, even when it leaked! Oh and yes, the background radiation in Boulder is higher than the US norm (because of its altitude and geography) and yet the people live longer and are healthier than the norm. If you go to the NASA website and look up the solar flux measurement from the GOES satellite you will plainly see that the sun's output is increasing. This was measured on no less than 4 different satellites. It's not "global warming", it's simply that the sun is getting hotter.

Simply excellent, Oddither! But you are 'assuming' a whole lot more than I've ever seen evidence to trust! LOL

Liberals always remind me of some prissy hall monitor at school; they like to tell someone else how to live but, don't you dare apply those standards to them!

It is so much fun backing them into a corner.

Yes, it is! Most of them don't really have a clue, they are just repeating what someone else has told them.

It's not often you see argument distilled to essence and presented as efficiently. I've copied, pasted, and saved this one to the hard disk. I wouldn't be surprised if you find it returning to you again in the form of widely-circulated e-mail. It's that good.

I've noticed, whenever you corner them with something factual, they change the subject-( usually to a condemnation of one of their favorite "villains".)

LOL--how I wish I had been there to witness that scene!! I used to live in Denver and worked for the Colorado Health Dept. I was the only conservative in my particular office and probably was a minority in the whole place.

It wasn't pretty as they were the only ones who were allowed to have an opinion on anything.

In an ant's life, a local Spring shower is the Great Flood and a possible end to its civilization (colony).

To a liberal...., well, you do the math and it is ROTFLMAO time again...

Does Global warming come and go?

Sure it does, just like the "homeless". They disappeared for eight years and were just rediscovered....

Why is it not honest? Because you didn't assist the person in maintaining their ignorance -- no matter how much you think the person wanted you to declare yourself the enemy so that they can somehow know where they stand? It seems to me that you were honest -- astutely honest.

Interesting that by not assisting the person despite the illogic of remaining ignorant as a means to be on "solid" ground.
