United States Army, 1982-1993; with service in Southwest Asia (three service stars) and Somalia.

Florida Army National Guard (first as a federal military technician then as Active Guard and Reserve) 1994-present; three hurricanes, two riots and stationed in the Pentagon on 9-11-01.

Son of an WWII Army infantry platoon sergeant; great-great grandson of Civil War veteran (Fifth Florida Infantry, third lieutenant); great-great-great-great grandson of a South Carolina militia infantry Lieutenant Colonel.

Thank God all my forebearers survived their wars -- but this day is in memory of those who did not survive this Nation's conflicts. May God bless their descendents!

1775

James Fales served as a Private in Captain Sabin Man's company of Minutemen, in Colonel Greaton's regiment, which marched on the Lexington Alarm (Lexington & Concord).

Joseph Fales was a private at the Lexington Alarm (Lexington & Concord) under Captain Jeremiah Smith and Colonel John Smith. He also served under Captains Clap and Haskins and Colonels Wheelock and Jacobs, Massachusetts troops.

1863

George Fales served in the V Corps under Major General George Sykes, Second Division under Brigidier General R. B. Ayres, 2nd Brigade under Colonel Sidney Burbank, General Headquarters - 12th New York Infantry, Companies D and E, 17th Pennsylvania Cavalry, Companies D and H. He was in Company E, 11th U.S. He was involved in the fighting around Little Round Top which may include the Peach Orchard, Wheat Field and Possibly Devil's Den. Our documentation says he died on July 8th, 1863 and the information we found online states that he was wounded on July 2nd, 1863 on the 2nd day of the Battle of Gettysburg so it seems he died of his wounds several days later.

1864

Charles Fales, died at CSA Prison Camp, Camp Lawton, Millen, Georgia after serving in the Union Army.

World War I

Harry Harmony (cousin) served in WWI.

Harry Cousins (great uncle), believed to have served either in the US or Canadian army, was never heard from afterward.

FB Peik, Sr. (grandfather) served in the Dental Corps during WWI.

World War II

FB Peik Jr. (uncle) served in the navy in the Pacific theater.

PJ Belanger (uncle) served in the US Army Air Corps in the European theater.

George Burns (uncle) served in the European theater.

Jack Burns (uncle) served in the 17th Infantry Division, paratrooper and mechanic, European theater, taking part in the Rhine Crossings and Battle of the Bulge.

Buck Euler (uncle) served in Pacific theater in the army.

Thank you all for your service to your country.
