If the person looked at previously sent mail to her parent's, they would get a feel for how she would write them.

It just occured to me. If Condit killed her, or had her killed; why would he "DUMP" her body so close to his apartment? On-the-other-hand, if it was an accident, why move her except to get her out of HIS space (late at night office meeting?). Or maybe it WAS suicide and Chandra set it up to look like Condit killed her. The ultimate revenge!!!

The park has a history of being crime ridden.

There's an article "Facts Elusive in Chandra Levy Investigation" posted today on the www.sacbee.com website. In it, Chief Ramsey is quoted as saying that her body was "found at the bottom underneath about a foot of underbrush and foliage.." indicating she was placed, rather than rolled, there.

Also, turtleman's dog had to traverse the tributary (I believe that's the word used) in order to search the remains. More than interesting ... another dog to the rescue. By the way, the gentleman is not eligible for the reward .. the return was not "safe."

Well I guess that definatly rules out #3 Suicide.
How many do we have left? (You realize of course if all are ruled off that leave only one......CONDIT)

Here's what's left:
1) Chandra fell victim to a street crime while jogging in Rock Creek Park,
2)was a victim of a sociopath with more free time than the Congressman

OK let's shoot holes in these two. Ready, aim, fire!

The DC Chief actually said that they "didn't search the remote areas" - he was expecting the cadets to find Chandra laying in a trail??? He is toooo quick for me.

It is astonishing. She had been missing for two weeks. A zillion people with dogs walk the paths and roads of Rock Creek Park every day. How this genius decided that the smart thing to do was search along the roads and paths and ignore the remote areas is beyond me. Furthermore nowhere in the park is that remote - we are talking downtown Washington DC here. It really would not have taken that much effort to do a thorough search of the less traveled areas.

There is still a lot we don't know, but I think the current "best evidence" points to the following conclusions:

1. This was not an accident, suicide, park mugging, or even a well planned murder.

2. It started out with Chandra being picked up by Gary or others at her apartment on afternoon of May 1st. Gray's wife in town and Chandra was threating to confront her. He had to do something. The intent was to talk some sense into her about her treats to expose Gary if he didn't marry her. She was emotional, he was emotional, she was having her "emotional days", he was hyped up on steroids and other drugs.

3. He offered to continue the relationship in secret, get her a great job, give her money, stop seeing other women, but would not/ could not leave his wife. She was buying none of it, it was all or he and his buddies would be exposed for what they really are. He hit her. She started screaming. He (they) gaged and restrained her hoping she would come to her senses, she did not.

4. Gary felt he had no choice, they drove to just inside Rock Creek Park, no weapons available. Cars park near the bridge all the time. Forced her down the trail. Sunglasses lost. 100 yards from the road he/they strangled and hit her in the head with a rock. She stopped moving and he/they split in a hurry. No cleaning up the scene. 1 year of missery waiting for body to be found and that knock on the door.

Knock! Knock!

Possible! Why the screams in the middle of the night?

1) Chandra fell victim to a street crime while jogging in Rock Creek Park,

1)Person at the health club said Chandra didn't care much for jogging and preferred the treadmill to jogging.

2)She was found with a tennis shoe, the jogging shoes were still at the apartment.

3)No reason to NOT take her ID. With her police background one would think that she would be one of the first to tell you that, people 'should' carry ID, in the event of an accident.

4)No money. Another of Condit's rules. If she weren't meeting him, she might take money in case she wanted to purchase a refreshment after her 'so-called' run, or even take a cab home.

5)Going for a leisurely walk, wouldn't make it necessary to leave a blanket on the floor by the door.

6)Jog or walk, why take the backpack?

"It just occured to me. If Condit killed her, or had her killed; why would he "DUMP" her body so close to his apartment?"

Two theories come to mind...Condididt DIDN'T did it, but whoever DID did it either called and told the police where the body was or just scattered parts all over - carrying out a threat...or simple misdirection.

"On-the-other-hand, if it was an accident, why move her except to get her out of HIS space (late at night office meeting?). "

Very good and plausible theory...ESPICIALLY since I lean toward either a lover's quarrel that got out of hand...OR Chandra hoping to get a permanemt position in law enforcement by getting some PROOF of dirt on Condit...and got caught by a few of his "bodyguards". I STILL keep thinking of "The Missing Watch".

"Or maybe it WAS suicide and Chandra set it up to look like Condit killed her. The ultimate revenge!!!"

Hey...Now THAT is worthy of a full length whodunit! Maybe......we'll probably never know for sure.

The knotted leggings are much more likely to be a gag than to tie her feet or hands. It's screems you can't have. If so, they may still have DNA on them.

If you have a kicking, screeming woman on your hands, it's the screeming you have to stop first.

Doubt it. Condit's wife probably doesn't give a rip. So he wouldn't be worried about that. He offered this, he offered that. I doubt it. He probably figures there are more where she came from.

I don't rule out that she was grabbed in the middle of the night, but explaining the emails and lost sunglasses gets difficult. Afternoon fits more clues better.

On the other hand, night explains why so little was cleaned up at the site. Still, it makes little difference to the senario.

Just when was Condit's last vote in the house?
And why is he staying hidden? Hmmmmm?

Abandoning his constiuents in his last breath as a congresscritter? Why?

Just curious...........sure makes him LOOK guilty of something.........obstructing, or accessory to murder?

Sceams in the middle of the night tents to make it more planned and first degree; daytime leans toward "heat of passion" arguments.

I don't know, but I think if her fractured skull is accurate, she wouldn't be screaming. It would be a lot easier to deposit the body from the street, simply letting it roll down the hill vs hauling it uphill all that way.

Somebody posted here yesterday that if you were going to roll a body down a hill you'd need to tie the hands so the arms didn't flop out and stop the progress.

I think she was dead when she got left there and the drop came from the street side. Whoever dropped her could have just as easily tossed the contents of her backpack as well, scattering them as they fell.

There was implication from Miss Smith on FOX today that Condit used knotted ties in his "LOVE MAKING"

ET, does your post completely rule out #1????? That leave us with:
#2)was a victim of a sociopath with more free time than the Congressman.
Did he have the time?

CC Lot's of good ideas for a mystery writer aren't there. Just use that logic!
