If Levy had been "lured" outside by someone, she would have taken her purse or wallet--it's inconceivable that she would have left them in her apartment. It's absolutely conceivable since Condit didn't want his mistresses to carry ID when with him. If she thought she was going to be seeing him, it makes perfect sense that she would have left her purse and wallet at home.

Boy, have you got that right!!!
I can't think of anyone WHO DOESN"T HAVE CRIMINAL INTENTIONS demanding his/her visitor leave behind all forms of identification and communication as a condition of meeting. It SCREAMS "un-identified body found in xxxx". Perhaps more kids should have read Nancy Drew/ Hardy Boys/ Sherlock Holmes / etc.
Our PC - indoctrinated youth seem incapable of recognizing EVIL when they see it.

Condit reminds me of that loser in the movie True Lies.
He came on to women telling them that he worked for the CIA.
Condit wouldn't have had her murdered unless she knew that he was taking it from both ends.
Sex with an intern or a pregnancy is not a reason for him to resort to whacking her.

"* That she was a victim of a predator who carefully planned the attack and may have followed her for hours or days beforehand.
'It is our belief that she did not go there alone. Someone lured her,' said Billy Martin, the Levy family lawyer."OH!! 'ZAT why she had to look up the location of the park before going there? WOW, BRILLIANT bit of deductive logic on the part of the DC police!! (and all this time, I thought Shandra was wandering the streets of DC, wearing running clothes, happened to STUMBLE UPON THE PARK...and IMPULSIVELY decided to go for a jog)

There's one big problem with this scenario...if wifey knows, then she knows he had her killed and would have to be the sort to go along with it and act the innocent wife. Too many people now involved.

"Since the police are acknowledging they didn't search that area because of the rough terrain it is my guess the scouts weren't down in the brush there either."ANOTHER reason the police should have used dogs. I always found it odd that they didn't bother doing that...or doing so many other things...considering this is such a high profile case.
....Pardon me while I adjust my tinfoil hat.
Perhaps they were ordered NOT to any of these things by a superior.

WHERE IS GARY CONDIT? Good Question. He didn't participate on votes on the House floor on Thursday, after Chandra's body was discovered.
To: brigette
"If someone smelled something they probably thought it was a deer rotting that was hit. I know everytime I smell something driving down my road I don't think.... hmm I wonder if that is a dead body I smell."True...but what would you think if you and everyone else knew the police were searching all over the vicinity for a dead body? Wouldn't the thought cross your mind "Whooof....dead animal...or what if that's the body they're looking for?"

She also was ultra-security-conscious and would never have gone into a remote area of the park by herself, they said. Was a walkman found with her? If she was "ultra-security conscious" I don't think she would go jogging outdoors in an unfamiliar, remote area, wearing a headset. Someone tried real hard to make it look like she was a random victim while out jogging and planted the walkman (and the jogging duds) as a "prop".... someone who knew her but didn't pay attention to the "little things".

WHERE IS GARY CONDIT? This is the best question of the week. Not how she died, not what remains were found, not how the scene was found, but where is Gary?
To: abwehr
Digging even a shallow grave doesn't fit Condit's time line. Without a shovel or some digging implement it would be a very time consuming and laborious task. Dirty too.Unless he came back later and buried the body. Remember it was several days before anyone even started looking for her.

I recall that they found a walkman, but no tape inside??? Maybe a radio type walkman?
To: hoosiermama
Right, several days... and the security video was erased 2-3 days after she went missing. Another coincidence?

Or amybe someone took the tape. Could Chandra have taped Condit and been blackmailing him?????Blackmail is often a motive for murder.
With her interest in police work, maybe she tried to open a BIG case, and because of being an amateur failed. It would also explain why her apartment was cleaned. Of course so would moving. Have you ever had to pay to have an apartment cleaned after you move out? Rediculously pricey.

Probably because once you can completely rule something out, you do so. Since the body disn't wash ashore you can rule out dumping her in the ocean. But you need to be able to completely rule something out before you discard it.
To: hoosiermama
I wondered about her interest in police work and her possible having something on tape....
Cleaning while moving is normal, but the keyboard? And still there should have been plenty of HER prints around.
To: ET(end tyranny)
I've also wondered if she had a safe deposit box and if they checked where she worked? If something was on the computer there?

From article:
Cops found a knotted leotard next to the remains, leading them to believe she was tied up before she died. Many people have remarked about the police not knowing the differance between jogging pants and leotards.
They think the police must mean her jogging pants. Now I don't have a pair of jogging pants but from
what I have seen of them I don't think a very good knot could be made out of them. On the other hand a pair of
leotards does have a lot of streatch and a very tight knot could be made. Almost like a pair of nylons.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A PAIR OF JOGGING PANTS THEY CAN USE TO SEE HOW EASY
IT IS TO MAKE A KNOT IN THEM AND HOW TIGHT IT WOULD BE?
Now if it turns out it really is a pair of leotards then the question arises, where did they come from?
