A very sobering thought! Some one on one of these threads projected that these conditions, along with the rate of immigration today, France could have a Muslim majority by 2020!

I don't think that's a likely scenario in Russia. The Russians aren't as guilt-ridden and constipated as Western Europeans and North Americans. I believe that Russia would actually cede masses of land in the south and east before allowing its people to become a minority. Now, France is another story. Imagine an Islamic France with nuclear bombs. It's a possibility within 50 years.

I suspect that, as the numbers of Moslems approach a critical mass in European countries, the ruling elites will find some excuse to either end democratic norms, or render them a meaningless formality. Already, a lot of power in Europe is in the unaccountable European Union bureaucracy in Brussels.

The basic reason Europe turned democratic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is that that was the age of mass armies. It was impossible in the long run to deny political power to those groups on whom the military security of the European states rested. Moslems in Europe cannot be trusted with arms today. So a way will be found to change the political norms.
