How is George W. Bush doing? In Washington the past weekend everyone I spoke to answered that question by referring to the recent USA Today poll that said the president's popularity continues undiminished and, amazingly enough, for reasons apart from the war. People like him. They respect him. Almost eight in 10 said they thought he was doing a good job as president.

This article is so dead-on right; the man is comfortable in the office; he's not clamoring so hard to please everyone--he sees it as a very important job he is going to execute with excellence.

Nice column, Ms. Noonan.

It's always best to do a search before you post. Not only does it save bandwidth, but it tends to keep the comments on a single thread. If you don't know how to do a search - learn.

Don't worry about it - just call admin mod and they'll clean it up for you. Happens to many of us - especially when title isn't EXACTLY the same.

Don't worry about it. I've had more "bad searches" in the past few weeks than I did in the previous 2 years. The search engine needs an overhaul.

Yesterday afternoon, talking in the White House to reporters about the struggle he has had getting his judicial nominees through Congress, he looked like someone who was indignant and frustrated but not loaded for bear. He looked like it was work.

He needs to be loaded for bear on this, I sure hope he is.

I love Peggy Noonan.

For a number of reasons. Because I think she has a heartfelt way of grabbing a persons attention.

I also think she is insightful.

As an Irish girl, who is also a journalist (and a conservative), I can completely see her style. It's more Irish than Peggy Noonan herself would care to admit. *S*

I read Noonan's last book about Reagan. I LOVED everly last syllable. But I read Dinesh D'Souza's book about Reagan (found it harder going than Noonan's)..but found it more solid.

I LOVE Peggy Noonan's style of writing...but I would like it better I think if I believed it to be heartfelt completely. She's a contributor to the West Wing..so therefore, are we to believe that the solid Reagan administration policies (where she earned her bread and butter), are the same in every administration?

Oh as a journalist myself, I'm all for making the money where it comes (It is a difficult business, and I beat myself up morally sometimes over silly little stories I've sold...but, 'hey' it's a business)..BUT, I am just wondering, if Peggy isn't just sourcing another BOOK here. :-)

I ask the question genuinely.
I've been posting here nearly a year, so I'm not an interuptor. And I've read (at least ONE) of Peggy Noonan's books. But, I know how that old easy Blarney too can hit the soul....I KNOW..(It's how *I* make my goddamn living). :-)

And when W's terms of office are over, he'll gracefully fade into the background, unlike you know who.

Bush's polls are tanking like the Titanic, he can't even win a war with a 3rd world country, Economic Recovery ? lol give me a break , I hope he gets elected in 2004, by 2008 the US will look like Mexico.

What third world country is Bush at war with? Last time I knew, we weren't at war with any country. His poll numbers are still in the high 70's and unfortunately for the Demoncrats, who are looking desperately for an issue to jump on, the economy appears to be rebounding as well. You gave it a try, albeit a poor one, but unfortunately you sank, just like the Titanic. I think you better take those Demoncratic talking points and peddle them somewhere else.

They "cavalry" is all over FR tonight, trolling the threads leaving his post droppings for all to see. What a pity to waste the bandwith with this drivel.

Is there a trick to doing the search? I've tried to look for past articles that I KNOW are here and can't find them. Could it be -- not working?
