There is no dumbing down of standards for women pilots.

YGBSM!!!

As a former USN aviator (9 years), and an instructor, I can say that your statement may be wishful thinking, but is utter BS. Standards for women are reduced at every step in the progression from civilian to aviatrix, and mission commander qualifications.

The examples of the military, especially the USN, pandering to women aviators is legion. Perhaps you should retain your credibility and stay away from reciting the standard USN BS.

I agree. I was a US Army aviator and instructor pilot for 20 years. I was also a TAC Officer when the first female Warrant Officer Candidates entered the Warrant Officer Flight Training at Ft. Rucker, Alabama. I was their TAC. Prior to their arrival we were briefed that they would be treated just like the males. Usually there was a 1-2 week waiting period before the next class would start. To take up the "snowbirds" time they would cut grass, paint rocks, dig holes, fill holes etc. Upon the females arrival we we told to put them in Class A's and send them to battalion hq's to work in the air conditioning while their male counterparts cut grass, painted rocks, dug holes etc. We knew from then on the females would be treated differently.

Now, that being said, later on I was also a CH-47 IP at Ft. Rucker and the student with the smoothest control touch in handling that hard to master aircraft that I ever had was a female lieutenant. As a pilot she was very competent, how she later performed as a platoon leader I can't say. The only female CH-47 platoon leader I had was at Fort Hood, and I was not impressed, she had no business in that position. But the same can be said for some of the male platoon leaders, company commanders, battalion commanders etc. Overall, in 20 years of service there was slack cut for females. They were given more chances to make it than the males.
