Deep Game indeed! I see it's time again to bring back Mark Helprin's still unanswered
'A Question for George W. Bush' from way back in August 2000:
Governor, in your acceptance speech you said, "I have no stake in the bitter arguments of the last few years." Is that really so? Did it merely slip by? Granted, the impeachment was stimulated by a lesser grievance than any it should have been founded upon. Nonetheless, have you no stake in making sure that a citizen outrageously brought before the governor of a state for the purpose of providing sex for him, can have her day in court? Have you no stake in the expectation that witnesses not be intimidated, evidence not be destroyed, lies not be told? Have you no stake in the assumption that the president of the United States will not perjure himself in a court of law? Have you no stake in the principle that the law applies equally to all, regardless of station? Have you no stake in checking the abuse of power? Have you no stake in ensuring that the office your father occupied with such grace not be tainted by criminality and indecency?
rest of essay.

Everyone, I am really p*ssed about this. But I really don't want to hear whining and moaning and your threats to just sit out the next election. Bwhahah! Come on DFU you've been around long enough. Do you actually think you're going to tell Freepers what to do? Ha! If you weren't such an old-timer , you would have been totally flamed by now.

I was under the apparently mistaken impression that US diplomats flew commercial airlines when they travelled. (OK, so he'll sit in First Class, that's OK with me.) He's not a normal diplomat. He is a former president of the US who travles with a Secret Service detail wherever he goes. Since it is HIGHLY likely the Secret Service will want to bring a couple of the armored Suburbans over with them, this spells "US Military or charter aircraft".
I had no idea that even though he's a private citizen we foot the bill for that kind of treatment.
He's not a private citizen, and never will be. He's a former president, and he,Bubbette!,and even Bubbette! Jr all have Secret Service bodyguards.

Let's see where East Timor sits on our planet, shall we? Right next door to where MILLIONS upon MILLIONS in illegal campaign contributions to the Clinton and DNC campaign organizations came from during the last 2 Presidential elections. How convenient. What a coincidence. How out of the way. You are SPINNNNNNNNNING, Hillary.

I dunno about you, but I'd rather have Bill Clinton talking to a bunch of nobodies in East Timor--all of whom hate his guts--than talking to an ever-fawning press here in the USA. Wrong -- Ronald Reagan had precisely the correct move when Jimmy Carter would phone up, wanting to go here, there and everywhere -- Reagan did not take the call. Bush is a fool to even consider an IMPEACHED former president as some kind of official envoy, let alone sanction a visit.Thank you for posting this !!!!

Why did you ping me? Because you are one of those defending Bush's actions in this and in so doing "moving-on" from the CRIMES the Clintons and their associates clearly committed the last 9 years. For Clinton to have ANYTHING to do with the Bush administration is a travesty. THIS MAN IS A RAPIST and, I think, A MURDERER TOO. He should be busy defending himself in court, not running diplomatic errands for the Bush's.

Tempest in a teapot, and East Timor isn't exactly high up on the geopolitical scales these days, so sending Slick to some jerkwater zone works for me :-)

Merely trying to put things into perspective for those who easily fly off the handle. :) Some have an attitude like an athlete who gets benched and then hopes his team doesn't win.

Rush talking about it now. If Bush wants to bury the hatchet with Sinkmaster, I am sure we can give him a location for its burial.

Don't forget Powell resigning... But you are right. Waiting for the official announcement is probably best. But let the record show that I have, for the first time, vehemently disagreed with the President if this turns out to be legit.

If you say so...

This is an absolute outrage.

This is great. Bubba wants to get involved in the middle east and they send him to the middle of nowhere. But why they are even acknowledging his existance is beyond me.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Sending Billy boy to East Timor just North of Australia. Why send Bubba Billy down-under? Hmmmmm. I wonder what the beaches are like.....Beach babes! Thats it. They'll keep Bubba Beach Billy like a happy pig in s!!!t and his fat mouth out of the news. They'll have a line of bimbos that'll rival Chamberlain's pussy conquests. We may not see Ole Bubba for a while.
Who said Bush is dumb?
To: Rube23
Why is everyone so mad about this? If it is true, I see it as a kick in the crotch to ol' Billy. Nothing more. Why ?? Because for one small reason in the minds of some...This poor excuse of a now EX President, disgraced America in the eyes of the world ! And, of the many choices to choose from, albeit, this is not a high priority assignment, Pres. Bush had to choose the very man who sat on the world stage and was impeached.!!
What does this show the rest of the world of W's ethics ? Sorry, I think he is making grievious error's in judgement here, and I don't buy this crappy PC stuff either.!
IS THERE ONE MAN WHO SO LOVES THIS COUNTRY, THAT WILL STAND UP FOR RIGHT, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO LIKE HIM ?
Where have you gone, President Reagan, our nation turns it's lonely eyes to you,.....
