LYNN CHENEY: EMBARRASSMENT OVER OZZY FUSS AT WHITE HOUSE DINNER

**Exclusive**

VP wife Lynn Cheney told associates she was "embarrassed" by the commotion surrounding thrash rocker/MTV star Ozzy Osbourne's appearance at this weekend White House Correspondence Dinner in Washington.

"He's hardly someone we should be applauding... not a role model, I am rather embarrassed," Cheney said after the dinner, according to sources.

Osbourne's presence at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night cause a complete sensation. The rocker's Tuesday show on MTV has become one of the most-watched shows on the air among teens.

Cheney has been an outspoken critic of rock and rap lyrics marketed to youth.

Last year Cheney took on rapper Eminem, calling his music "the most extreme example of rock lyrics used to demean women, rock lyrics used to advocate violence against women."

"The thing about Ozzy is, he's made a lot of big hit recordings: "Party With the Animals," "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath," "Face in Hell," "Black Skies'' and "Bloodbath in Paradise,'' President Bush joked in his speech before the association.

Osbourne lyrics include from "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath": "God knows as your dog knows; blast all of you. Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath, nothing more to do. Living just for dying, dying just for you."

In the 1983 song, Bark at the Moon, Osbourne recited : "Howling in shadows Living in a lunar spell He finds his heaven Spewing from the mouth of hell."

Lynne Cheney is Tipper Gore redux. Perhaps she should wonder if her western novel written in 1988 called "Sisters" which featured a lesbian love affair and such stirring dialogue as:

"Let us go away together, away from the anger and imperatives of men. There will be only two of us, and we shall linger through long afternoons of sweet retirement. In the evenings I shall read to you while you work your cross-stitching by the firelight. And then we shall go to bed, our bed, my dearest girl."

Had anything to do with the way Mary turned out ;)

It's actually pretty long (I've worked on a database of them). FReepmail me and I'll send you a list with references (some may be defunct URLs). Gordon Jump from WKRP in Cincinnati and Jamie Farr from MASH have given money to GOP candidates, for example. Country singer Sara Evans' husband Craig Schelske is running for Congress in OR-5 this year and Brooks and Dunn will do a concert for his campaign this month.

They are too stupid to think on their own.

I think it's a generational thing. Many of those who post at FR don't "get", like, or understand metal music, therefore it must be crap (and there is a lot of it that is). However, because of this position a guy like Ozzy will never get a chance. Different is just that - different - not evil, but the small minds will always insist it is.

The daughter situation clearly presents Cheney with a problem if you view it from the surface. Her daughter's "orientation" may be arguably either by choice or by design, but Cheney's beef with Ozzie can be fairly separated from that issue.

But to a degree I see your point.

The Clintoon clip-- "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, [pause, gaze averted] Ms. Lewinsky." The Bush clip-- Bush raising the bullhorn and shouting: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you, and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon."

You're kidding? I cannot believe that NBC would show this. What a difference between the two men. This is great! Thanks for the good news.

Another thread about Ozzy. LOL Amazing what petty things a lot of our fellow freepers get so worked up about.

I'm not laughing.

I'm not kidding. I couldn't believe it. They could have easily made Clintoon look like some great FDR statesman in his clip, but chose not to.

Regarding you post #2. At least the scumball was only there for one night. A couple of years ago, he would probably have been a member of Clinton's cabinet.

>>GWB isn't the pastor at the Crystal Cathedral. You know that, right? <<

You don't say? Thanks for enlightening me.

>>He is a regualr guy that likes rock and roll and joking around with people (celebrities included). He's not Jesus Christ. He's the President of the United States. He promises to not get blow jobs from interns or let Markie Post and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason jump on the bed in the Lincoln Bedroom or let staff hang out in the Oval Office in sweatpants eating pizza while they have bull sessions with the president. He is bringing dignity to the WH-- he's not supposed to cleanse America of its culture.<<

I hope you didn't bust a blood vessel with your rant. Now, I reinforce what I said earlier. GWB will evidently do anything for a vote, up to and including compromising conservative principles (i.e.: makeing Swiss cheese of our borders, signing unconstitutional legislation that rolls over the First Amendment rights of all Americans, hypocritically telling Israel not to defend itself from terrorism, thereby putting the lie to the so-called "Bush Doctrine" (insert laugh here)...but hey, so long as he has Ozzy or Eminem there for a photo-op, that's what's important, right?

Get bent.

This is the kind of thing that gives the Pubbies a bad name. Relax, the guy advocates good clean living now! Or haven't you seen his show?

I agree, perhaps the GOP should attempt to get younger voters for a change.

"The title is Suicide Solution. Must mean suicide is ok!". They are too stupid to think on their own.

The lyrics seem pretty ambiguous to me and open to interpretation. And suicide is a subject that should not be treated ambiguously, especially in a "product" aimed at teens:

Suicide Solution

Wine is fine
But whiskey's quicker
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle drain your sorrows
Candied thoughts await tomorrows Evil thoughts and evil doings
Cold, alone you hang in ruins
Thought that you'd escape the reaper
You can't escape the master keeper
'Cause you feel life's unreal and you're living a lie
Such a shame who's to blame and you're wondering why
Then you ask from your cask is there life after birth
What you saw can mean hell on this earth
Now you live inside a bottle
The reaper's traveling at full throttle
It's catching you but you don't see
The reaper is you and the reaper is me
Breaking laws, knocking doors
But there's no one at home
Made your bed, rest your head
But you lie there and moan
Where to hide,
suicide is the only way out
Don't you know what it's really about

At least they bleep it out, which I found surprising for that channel.

Considering that "f––––" is what MTV is all about, it does seem kind of strange that they would bleep the word out. Or maybe it's par for the course. "Hypocrisy is the tribute that vice pays to virtue."

On the other hand, it could be so sacred a word in the MTV religion that no one dare speak it.
