just wait till the "They deserve to get raped" crowd shows up..And that would not be me. Sometimes people on the outside seem to believe that what goes on in a prison will stay inside, but eventually most of these people get out.
For instance, John William King, one of them men who dragged James Byrd to death behind a truck in Jasper, Texas, had been in prison earlier, and watched a gang rape of a white man by blacks. It is obvious that his earlier prison experience had an influence on his later murderous act.

The number of AIDS cases must be one of the prison system's best-kept secrets. If my memory serves me, didn't Bill Clinton then governor of Arkansas sell aids tainted blood to Canadians? The blood came from prison inmates.

when we would consider one man raping another to be a homosexual act by the rapist, prisoners seem to think that the rapist is not homosexual, just the person being raped is. Make no mistake. The inmate rapist is a pervert! As such, they should be eternally isolated for their prison term. So that begs the question, is the warden who turns a blind eye to rape on his/her watch a pervert too?

the warden is sitting at some fancy dinner celebrating the newest grant he got, or the money that he has managed to raise from the state level to finance some pet project like redecorating his office. It's this or the warden is also a pervert in order for these atroticities to continue unabated.

I'll say again for the record. Any warden, that turns a blind eye to the rape of any inmate in his/her care , is without doubt him/herself a pervert...since only a pervert could allow such indecency.

I think some of the exampled cited in this article are urban legend. Inmates "owning" other inmates, dressing them up like women and renting them by the hour? C'mon! But having read several books on prison life, I have no doubt that homosexual rape and other forms of sexual harrassment in prison are fairly common. None of this should be tolerated, of course. All our prison inmates serving out a sentence should be treated humanely and should not be put in a position where they can be raped or sexually abused. Any prison inmate engaging in predatory sexual behavior should have his prison term extended and be locked in a cell 24/7 for the duration. By removing these animals from the general population, the other inmates will be able to serve out their sentences with some dignity and hopefully have the chance to return to society reformed, and without a lot of emotional baggage.

"Taylor says that whites are the targets of blacks and Hispanics"But if it were the Blacks who were getting raped by whites there would be a full scale Senate investigation.
John Ascroft's Justice department would follow.
But NO!!!!!All they care about are politicaly correct non violent profiling.

OldSmaj, in reply to your post 32: No, it was not sarcasm, and yes, I have had more than a modicum of education, and no, I do not believe that saltpeter supresses the male sexual urge. The purpose of saltpeter was to prevent the male from having an erection. I understand that it did not particularly work well for that purpose, but I was using it as a generic term. There are several drugs on the market that could acomplish the purpose, as I cannot imagine the mecanics involved in raping while laking an erection. Perhaps for claritys sake I should refer to such drugs as anti-viagras?

What I can't understand is this apparent need in some that call themselves "conservative" to look out for the "needs" of
convicts. You can call me "callous" I don't care.
Also, let's say this is something conservatives should be worried about. Exactly how do you propose stopping it? Lengthening sentences? Yeah, that'll work for lifers. Not to mention it'll put a nice burden on our already overworked justice system, as the perpetrator will have to be proven guilty of these rapes in a court of law.
The only way to stop this is to have cameras in every part of the prision, and have individual cells. Do any of you who feel such compassion for the convict really want to see more tax dollars go to such a project, when there are problems with our country today that have nothing to do with criminals?
