Bob Novak makes a United States war with Iraq sound imminent
The signal has spread through the Pentagon: on to Baghdad to get rid of Saddam Hussein, probably in September when the weather should be fine and the United States high tech arsenal will be replentished.
That's what Defense Department policymakers plan, but their cheers are balanced by apprehension among civilian and military career officials.
Some of them are apparently are crossing their fingers for Secretary of State Colin Powell to exert control over the situation. (ugh!-ed.)

Maybe this was the Rumsfeld Special Ops Afghan model plan that was nixed.
Well, September 2003 might be it, eh?

I thought they said that today! They did! Yesterday, actually. Some Pentagon official said that a summer war is possible. They'll probably start during the full moon as well just to show the enemy that nothing can stop the US Army.

I hope this is not true.
My nephew was in Desert Storm and he said it was murder sitting it out in the desert.....sand storms, bordom etc.
How could we ask this of our troops?

TY+You can't keep 300,000 troops sitting idle while they wait half a year to take action. Their morale and edge will be gone.
Powell should read a book on military history and spend less time agonizing about bombing third world nations,

OMG! That was nearly a year ago!
And then everyone was saying "just wait until the U.S. takes out Saddam -- then the Palestinian terrorists can be dealt with!
Good Lord, and now we have this monster diplomatic mess with delay upon delay.
Unbelievable.

"Rush to War Bump." Yup. In your best "Little Tommy (Puff) Daschle' voice.

modern warfare They know nothing of modern warfare until they imagine what can happen should they pass that bill in DC to cash out retirement funds. Picture 30 million AARPers in Winnebagos converging on the Capitol.
