[history]
This past week Israel marked the 54th anniversary of its birth with ceremonies filled more with solemnity than celebration. And yet for Israelis there is always hope in the very fact of survival. For many, there is no greater proof of God's sovereignty in the world today than the survival of the Jews and the existence of Israel.

Ralph Reed, along with Gary Bauer, are going to be on Hardball tonight. Expect that Chris Matthews will tear huge chunks out of their flesh because they're pro-Israel and Matthews is very definitely pro-Palestinian.

Dennis Prager said on his radio show this morning, that when his brother and sister-in-law flew to Israel last week, his brother was unable to find any other Jews among the plane load of Christians flying to Israel to "show their solid support of Israel." This brought happiness to both Dennis and his brother.

Well, Matthews changes his opinion of things as often as he changes his underwear. I'll watch thanks for the heads up.

He starts out just hating them for being conservative Christians without harpy wives and then the support of Israel adds to his hatred!! I hardly watch him anymore....he's as RUDE as CARVILE.

For my daughter, does anyone have a
favorite online article or specific source about the origins, history, rationale of this conflict? Thanks! (Wasn't there a FR thread with such a title? I can't find it.)

Is this a shock to yo or yourJewish friends?? It sure isn't to me.

Last week, Matthews and Geraldo were indistinguishable. I figure with Bauer & Reed on the program, Matthews is going to be doubly nasty--they're conservative Christians AND they support Israel. I'll watch, but I'll also make sure I have soft things to throw at the screen.

Although I'm a Christian and share most of my beliefs with Reed and Bauer, I don't like either one of them. They come across as preachers more than politicians. I think certain people are called to run for office or be involved in politics, and that others who are in politics are not supposed to be there. Anyone remember Bauer's support of McCain, (no friend of Christians whatsoever!), against Bush in mid/late 2000? I haven't.....

I read something very interesting in a back issue of Vanity Fair, the Jan. issue. In a very informative article about Sharon, it mentioned that the Pope visited Sharon in Israel in 1999 for the millenium, and said to Sharon, "The land of Israel is holy for Jews, for Christians, for Muslims. But it has been promised only to the Jews."

sorry! I haven't = I DO remember!
