Police 'Intelligence' Says Protestors and Reporters May be Dangerous

A new internal memo from the Washington, D.C. Police Department warns police that protestors this weekend might use violence and pipe bombs, and specifically tells police to be alert for persons who are photographing, videotapping or taking notes, the D.C. Independent Media Center has learned.

The document, obtained this morning by the Independent Media Center, paints protestors and media producers alike as suspicious and potentially dangerous.

"It is possible that some of the radical groups that are involved may stage so-called 'probing' incidents between now and the actual event," the memo reads. "Such incidents are intended to test police, fire and EMS response. Such incidents may include vandalism, pipe bombings, or 'Molotov cocktails.'"

Specifically, police are told to be alert for "suspicious" people who are gathering information about police activities or calling police on the phone "posing" as reporters. The memo recommends that police should photograph people on the streets who are photographing, videotaping or taking notes.

The memo paints a negative image of protestors and independent reporters, and was issued a day before rank and file officers take to the streets to work during the demonstrations. [Full Story]

Man, I do wish I could be there. True Americans who love and are proud of their country need to stand up and be counted.

How close are you to D.C.? You should get involved with this chapter if you are close enough. Otherwise, you should get involved with the Maryland FReepers. They might all be part of the same group. Check out this thread too. It's a good one.

I think it would be awesome if next time, someone brings a PC with wireless internet hookup, and a webcam. FR could webcast the entire event! Just think, we could be watching it now. Wow. What do you think of this? Technically, it should be pretty easy, shouldn't it? I think it would be worth the effort, and in a situation like today with C-SPAN not showing it, we would be THE source. This could then be done at many other FReeps in the future, too.

 ENTANGLING ALLIANCES

AND

UNASSIMILATED IMMIGRATION

Dear Mr. President:

Forget Tenney, Mitchell, Saudi, Sharon, WTO, Amnesty. It's time for the Houdini Plan.   Just disappear from foreign problems, withdraw our aid, arms, troops and negotiators from everywhere in the world and build fortress America. Play no favorites and we will have no enemies.

Mission Accomplished! and CONGRATULATIONS D.C. Chapter FReepers!!

Though this was not a TRT sanctioned operation, several of our members showed up today in support of our American troops and the Constitution! (note the Osama Bin Laden skull on top of the TRT's U.S. flag ;-).
