Child molesters are still very active, and guess what... they are NOT in the Catholic Church anymore.

I guess the millions that continue to be paid out to molestation victims are just part of the church's charitable mission. The church is protesting the release of those incriminating e-mails out in L.A. as misdirection to keep the public from knowing that the church has taken care of the problem. /sarcasm

One must consider that some in the Church are also hostile to marriage in the traditional sense. Homosexuals are antinomians. They want to keep their boy-toys, they want to do as they please without consequence to their careers.

yes, once upon a time the priest was sometimes the only educated person in his parish and famuilies regarded it as a high honor to have one of their own in the priesthood, and priests enjoyed their birth families' approval. Now, that social aspect has changed. How many Catholic families want their sons to be priests?

I'm not all that impressed by some of the new recruits who are glowingly praised by conservative Catholics. Many of them, I feel, are a step backwards, in the sense that they don't strike me as anywhere near as sharp as the priests of yore, rarely have probing minds that question authority, but rather are (sometimes eunuchoid) yes men. The Catholic faithful deserve more.

That said, there are men who are clear priest material, and prosper at it. More power to them.

Whatever the percentage of pedophiles I don't know.

But the point of my post was to raise the question of priestly un-celibacy of an adult hetersexual and homosexual variety.

You didn't respond to that question at all. Do I take it that that is the common Catholic laypersons opinion? No outrage, no reform, just more coverup! Anything goes as long as priest doesn't break a law.

the majority of priests and nuns engage in sexual activities

Pure BS, along with 97% of the rest of your post. God Bless you anyhow for trying. You can pick up your consolation prize on the way out...

OK, It's real early in the morning - but I read that post three times trying to find the snippet you allude to - with no luck.

From my vantage point, YoungRino (what a crappy nic) is closer to the truth than I would like. Just because I hate the message does not make it incorrect.

I would agree that this is not a "Catholic" problem, but I don't trust the statistics on this one. I believe pedophiles actively seek jobs and volunteer positions where they have trusted authority over children.

A friend of mine just sent me this from the Arlington Catholic Herald and I was searching to see if it had been posted here.

As the left attempts to twist and turn this into yet another attack on the Roman Catholic Church, I can only hope that this will awaken more Christians to the real threat posed by our common foe and his minions.

Doc, I have a question.
What does God need with a religion, any religion?.
After all my reading and lessons, and travels in this life, it appears to me that religion is of the devil. God is still God regardless. After all Moses asked God for a Gov't(Monarchy) which included a religion to Gods dismay, according to the Bible. Yeah! I think religion is of the devil. The history of the western world bears me out too, I think. Anyway this renegade religion set up according to what God told Moses is now partly the model for most christian churchs I know of. You're thoughts on this. Me, haveing no religion remain open if it can be proved to me I'm jaded in some way. An honest question by the way.

How sad!

Unfortunatly, homosexuals/pedophiles are the least of the Catholic's troubles with the Lord.

Sad.
