Servicemen Furious at Coddling of Terrorists
WND ^ | 4/4/02 | WND

American servicemen at Guantanamo Bay are so angry about the superior treatment given to the terrorist detainees that the military is sending in shrinks to try to prevent explosions of "inexplicable rage."

The al-Qaeda and Taliban fanatics at Camp X-Ray have received better treatment than the U.S. troops guarding and caring for them, despite all the whining from European and U.S. left-wingers, International Red Cross, United Nations and other blame-America-first types.

In fact, the Miami Herald reported today, the Muslim detainees:

"had two hot meals a day plus a cold lunch while the Marines and Army Military Police were eating field rations" from plastic packages.

enjoyed showers weeks earlier than the Americans, who had to make do with a garden hose.

scream at, spit on and hurl water at the servicemen, who are "working nearly nonstop."

''They did those atrocities to us, and we're treating them like royalty,'' fumed Marine Lance Cpl. Nathan Howell.

The Pentagon is suddenly concerned about its mistreatment of the servicemen. It fears they might "later explode with seemingly inexplicable rage - at their work or their families," the Herald reported.

The attempt at a solution: A special Navy psychiatric team is counseling and debriefing each of the estimated 1,000 Marines, soldiers and sailors at the compound.

''Many of them feel the detainees are being treated better than they are,'' said Cmdr. Karen Daly, a Navy psychiatrist and officer in charge of the Special Psychiatric Rapid Intervention Team, which has begun making rounds.

But our men and women in uniform are leery.

"Officially, the military culture embraces the concept of mental healthcare. But other parts of military culture teach people to button up their emotions and do their jobs," the Herald reported. "Daly said she learned since coming to the base that some Marines refer to psychiatrists as 'wizards' and caution each other, 'Never talk to a wizard.'"

"Special Ammunition Storage Facility" == Nuclear Weapons Storage Facility, most likely. Although sometimes other weapons are termed "special", it usually means nukes.

I'll certainly e-mail our military at Gitmo offering support and prayers. It really roils me that the powers that be are so worried about these "detainees" and our blessed military have to put up with this crap! I have a sticker on my car window that has the American Flag and reads "Lest we forget - September 11, 2001". I say the folks who are so worried about the "detainees" at Gitmo should be forced into a skyscraper where a plane will hit it and then have to jump out windows to avoid being burned to death. GOD BLESS OUR MILITARY AND KEEP THEM CLOSE ALWAYS.

explode with seemingly inexplicable rage

I dunno. Reading this article, I'm thinking any display of anger/rage would be totally explicable.

Thanks for e-mail address.

What gives with our military these days!!?? My son has been in the Navy since October and they keep screwing up his pay and seldom give him a pay stub. For the past 3 months, since reporting to his base in Norfolk, he's been living in open barracks on a barge (miserable living conditions with rowdies coming and going throughout the night). There are rooms available in the barracks and he's been assured that he's at the top of the list ... but no one is following through with the necessary steps. Just like no one will bother to get him copies of his back pay stubs.

I realize that his complaints are nothing compared to those stationed at Gitmo, but any suggestions you have that won't cause him trouble would be welcome -- otherwise, thanks for letting a mother vent.

Oh BS. I can't imagine anyone wanting to trade places with one of these prisoners.

This is excellent spin, though. It might counteract all the allegations by euroweenies about how cruelly we are treating these terrorists.

We just sent an e-mail to Commander Points praising our military personnel at Gitmo and saying that if any of them want to e-mail us, we would be honored to answer them. Many thanks for the information, Tonkin.

Why is this Lance Cpl. talking to the press?
I know for a fact that these guards are being rotated in and out and are being built quarters with a/c....Bit$h's go through the chain of command, not the media....I have a feeling this L/Cpl may be a Pvt real soon.

"but any suggestions you have that won't cause him trouble would be welcome"

My best suggestion would be for him to make a "good friend" with someone in supply.
If you have a good friend there they can help cut thru all the red tape.
Please tell your son I said:
"Thank You for your service to our country."

Please stop in here, lots of FReeper families with military in them.

Stop in and help support our military, their families and Vets!
Come on by and meet some very Patriotic FReepers.
See great graphics and posts and have a few laughs along the way.

New Thread Every Day!

It was a great pleasure to send a message of encouragement and thanks to our troops in Cuba. Thank you, Tonkin. You are a treasure.

I don't blame them for being angry, I heard on the news they are sending shrinks down there to deal with anger management before the soldiers return home.

We have never treated our military right, they should be better paid than a congressman.

Thank you for posting the email address to write. I am so angry over what our troops are having to go through down at GITMO, I can barely type right now -- but I sure managed to get an email through.

Just talked to my son stationed there, he agrees with you. Bullcrispies....
My son said the young man should not have enlisted because they (the military) are here to make sacrifices for our Country and us. He said this job is not suppose to be easy. He said in the Navy, it is about HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT and to him this is what it is all about.
So to all Freepers, we are all okay but a message of encourage is always nice to hear.
