There are dozens of additional images at the site above. It is very funny, in a disturbing way, since we know what a murderer Stalin was. Also, the people don't look like they are starving. They are all rosy cheeked and fat.

I believe a translation of the words below the picture are (loosely):
"We know of the friendship between Stalin and the people".

It looks like they put Reagan's face in the picture. Look at the third face from the right, counting Stalin.

Isn't that Al and Tippy over on the right?

I'm sure every crooked regime has used similar tactics.

Their version of "Loose lips sink ships" is cute.
To blab = to help the enemy.

Ol' Uncle Joe! Kids loved him (the ones who lived, anyway).
Bump!

LOL! I just sent this as E-mail to my boss with the image in the background and text overlaying it stating
"The Proletariat wishes you a HAPPY EASTER".
I think he just spit out his coffee...

Here's an interesting one. It looks like a response to FDR's "four freedoms" speech. The title is "American freedoms" or something like that ("Svoboda po-Amerikanski" is the legend at the bottom). I suppose the KKK lynching scene is "freedom from fear," but I don't know about the others. The letters on top of the skyscraper say "Wall Street".

Stalinist Posters Misleading thread title! I thought it was referring to the card carrying members of DUh!

When I was a kid we had a missionary who smuggled a bunch of posters out of Russia. This was in the 1950s or 60s and it was very dangerous for him to do this. It was unreal the propaganda they had in their posters. At one time we had postcard size copies of them. I wish I knew where those are now. One was of Christ getting drunk at a wedding. The posters ridiculed USA, our politics, religion, etc. Now M. Gorbechev admits it was all propaganda.

Ha!! Here's one that contrasts the glorious accomplishments of Soviet education with the run-down, bankrupt, crappy education system of the USA. What fools!! What boneheads!!! Claiming that our educational system stinks!! Our teachers are crap!! Our students are idiots!!
Ah......
Never mind.

What jumps out at me is the calculated, contrived attempt to include various ethnicities of the old USSR on the poster. Diversity!
We are beaten over the head with the same kind of thing, in the U.S., all the time. Some things just never change, do they?

Great site and images!
For other interested in Soviet images, might I suggest:
"The Commissar Vanishes"
by David King
It's a great compilation of photos from the Soviet era, many of them a series of photos that
show how, over time, disfavored or executed Party members were simply air-brushed from view.
