I like Denzel Washington a lot. I don't know if he should have won this year, but he is a very deserving actor.

"All that was missing from her speech was "Down with Whitey!" Just once I would like to see a white performer get up and say how thankful he or she was that white people had maintained a tradition by awarding them the Oscar.
To: latina4dubya
i was hoping for Russell Crowe... i thought he deserved it... The British tabloids would never have allowed it. They've had it in for Russell Crowe since he won for "Gladiator."

Message to all whiny white folk on this thread bashing Halle: GET OVER IT!
How can you see the color of the people posting?
Do you think the only people who can criticize Halle are white?...If so then you are clearly a narrow minded racist.

He should have won a few years ago for that football movie (damn, i forgot the name of it).

Absolutely not. I think Halle Berry was the best actress. Color has nothing to do with it. The fact that Halle thinks color is important means that there is a long way to go on the race issue, and the work is not all to be done by whites.

I say 'A Beautiful Mind'.

Hey. Plublicity is only good for Democrats.

Ditto.

OK I stand corrected.
What was that bit about with "An Affair To Remember" and "Young Frankenstein", was there a running theme to the clips before commercials? Nice scenes, but don't quite get the relevance(TV is at my back while I read this thread!)
To: rintense
I can't see LOtR winning. It will probably go to A Beautiful Mind. The Academy members will vote for it just to get back at Drudge for posting the anti-Semite and no-gay sex for Crowe's character stories. Also, they owe Ron Howard for being such a good liberal and moneymaker.
To: BunnySlippers
I like both of them but what do you want to bet there's an agenda going on here. Of course there is. This show was being plugged as the "its about time" awards ever since the nominations were announced.
To: dougherty
It should have been Russell Crowe or Sean Penn.

Remember The Titans
To: oldvike
Remember the Titans. Didn't Denzel win an oscar for Glory? Or was he just nominated for one?
To: Utah Girl
I wasn't attacking you, I was just commenting generally.
I also have a problem with the belief that "if a black person hasn't done it yet, it's a barrier and, therefore, an obvious instance of discrimination."
