WASHINGTON - They don't know whether they'll be in the majority or the minority this time next year. They don't know who their leaders will be. They don't know where their money is going to come from. They don't know what issues to stress or how to push them.

"Indeed, this legislation could do more to put the Democrats at a disadvantage than any measure the party has supported since the civil rights bills of the 1960s, which put the Democrats on the right side of history but gave the Republicans a new foothold in the South."

Un-freakin-believable! Leave it to the liberal Boston Globe to make another attempt at revisionist history. It was the REPUBLICANS who backed civil rights in greater numbers than the Dems, and THAT'S why they gained a stronghold in the South.

How about this little tidbit of "wisdom":
... but it may be harder for a Democrat to be a speaker in this situation than for a Republican. There are more conservative Democrats than moderate Republicans, and conservative Democrats tend to be more independent than moderate Republicans.
You could hold a meeting of all the conservative house democrats in a phonebooth. As for "moderate" republicans, we have enough RINOs to immediately falsify the author's statement. However, it's always best to back such statements with facts. So let's consider that little old item called impeachment to test the author's theory. How many democrats in the house voted for any of the articles of impeachment? How many demos in the senate voted to convict? How many RINOs in the house and senate voted to look the other way at clinton's offenses? It is clear that the demo party has a stronger stranglehold on its members.

"It is clear that the demo party has a stronger stranglehold on its members"

That's because ALL Dems are crooked and if they don't tow the line, they get outed.

I'd say it's time to FREEP the Boston Globe - via email, letters to the editor, etc.....THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PASS AS FACT!!!!!

Indeed, this legislation could do more to put the Democrats at a disadvantage than any measure the party has supported since the civil rights bills of the 1960s, which put the Democrats on the right side of history but gave the Republicans a new foothold in the South.

There some misleading going on here. The Democrats "supported" civil rights acts by filibustering and was finally supported 60% of Democrats. The GOP gave both Civil Rights Acts over 80% of their vote and did not filibuster.

Yeah, the Dems are worried that GWB is going to out-democrat them. Next thing ya know the Dims are going to try to out-pub the Repubs.
Hey don't blame me! I voted 3rd Party. At least there I can tell the difference.

Translation: I threw my vote away so don't blame me. You gave us Clinton too, but don't blame you! Imagine if the nutcase you voted for actually got more than 1% of the vote???

Pray for GW and the Truth
