Mr President its nice to hear you're listening to the American people, but if you're truly being sincere, don't urge the Senate to pass section 245 (i). Even a "limited" amnesty is wrong cause it sets a precedent. After 9-11 most Americans want LESS not more immigration, particularly of the "undocumented" variety. Oh and be sure to tell your friend President Vicente Fox that during your state visit next week to Mexico.

The hotel and restaurant industries had been pushing hard for the bill, arguing they would be short staffed if thousands of their Mexican employees were forced to return home to apply for visas.

It would seem to me a bad idea to have criminals (ilegal immigrants) handling and preparing our food.

Bush speaks with forked tongue. He denies he is considering an amnesty while his agents have been pressuring Congress for an amnesty.

U.S. President George W. Bush on Wednesday denied he was considering legalizing over three million undocumented Mexicans living in the United States...

On Tuesday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that would allow thousands of Mexicans living...

Bush called the measure "a good step" and urged its fast approval...

Kind of like triple speak. Which is it Mr X43 in 2004.

The new politics. Pressure Congress to pass a bill. Then tell the people, Congress wanted it, I hate to, but I have to go along with what Congress wants in the spirit of bipartisanship.

First of all the bill does not grant amnesty, it allows illegals to extend their stay by paying $1000. Secondly, if Bush was really listening to the American people, he would also say that he was not going to sign campain finance reform. Rather sad to see a man of his own convictions become someone who is "bending to pollsters"/

Allowing one to request a visa here has nothing to do with citizenship or amnesty. But go ahead... Scream and yell otherwise...

Sort of like extortion. Congress took a page right out of Al Capones book for this one.

Will this money go into illegal, under the table, campaign finance accounts?

You deal with criminals everyday but they are called Americans because they we born here. Obviously you haven't been harmed too much by them. So can we assume that just Mexicans bother you?

God, some of you zealouts are totally nuts!

Lord, I hope Bush didn't say that. Clintoon "followed the will of the people" and look where we ended up.

I hope President Bush shows some leadership in this situation and does NOT listen to the stupid few who just happen to be screaming the loudest.

I never mentioned any ethnicity or race. It is YOU that has played the "race" card in this discussion up to this point.

I merely stated that I think it not a good idea to have non-citizens that are breaking the law handling our food.

And as far as dealing with criminals everyday, well, to the best of my knowledge once these "american criminals" have been identified, they can be arrested, such is not the case of these non-american law breakers.

Deal with it thats the way it works in D.C. If you want a voice you will need more then 20 or 50 freepers. Even numbers of 50,000 are shruged off in D.C. The republicans have never been big on protests thats how democrats win even if they lose just by pushing the political center a little more left with each campain. The goal is not to win but to make republicans into leftists. A little more left with every issue. In the end that is the REAL aim and mesure of victory.

I sure hope Bush will have second thoughts about amnesty to criminals.

THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE GOOD REASON TO GIVEN AMENESTY TO THIS GROUP. Voting for it can not be defended other than it being for personal gain, due to mental defect, or desire to harm this country.
