USO Canteen Freeper Style

War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil.  We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.

On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.

William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."

The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.

This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."

We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.

This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.

Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!

"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

The weather here in WV was beautiful today. Hey, I brought Jack home from the hospital today. I think he is beginning to turn the corner. He was complaining about the hospital food this morning, so I knew he was better. We'll keep him on the pain-killers here at home for awhile. He sees the Opthamologist in the morning. I'm hoping he can give him something to help the pain in his eye. The first stuff he gave him, he turned out to be allergic to and then the Dr. left town for two weeks. So he's basically not had anything for his eye for two weeks. Shovel some of that snow for me. We haven't had any to shovel for four years now.

See #201. They got his hives under control at the hospital. The only thing we are contending with now is the pain in his head and eye. It's unrelenting and of course the pain medicine makes him weak and nutty. He's been in excruciating pain for one month now. I sure do hope I never get these things. Since he's had them people have been coming out of the woodwork with horror tales about people they know who have had Shingles. They say it is the worst pain you can have. Minute Gal has had them just about the same time Jack has, only she has them around her waist, and she says the pain is fierce on her body, so you can imagine how it must be to have it in your eye. Maybe after a month now the pain will begin to subside. I'm better now that he is home. Thanks for asking.

Theses are the boats I'll be training on next week as part of my Radio Watchstanding Course.
Delta 21 used to be on the Intrepid crew when he was staioned in Coos Bay in the 80's
It was decided today that my training should be on the actual Coast Guard boats that I will be talking to.
After that phase is over I'll spend some time on the Coast Guard Auxiliary boats also.

52' Motor Lifeboat Intrepid
Generally regarded by their crews as the "Cadillac" of the motor lifeboats, these boats answer the call when heavy weather conditions are too severe for any other rescue boat. Built in 1960 to replace wooden-hulled ships that carried the same names since the 1930's, these steel-hulled 52-foot motor lifeboats can withstand 100-mile per hour winds and sea swells up to 35 feet. These are the only Coast Guard vessels under 65 feet that have names. Only four 52-footers are in service, all in the Pacific Northwest. They are built to withstand the most severe conditions at sea and are capable of effecting a rescue at sea even under the most difficult circumstances. They are self-bailing, self-righting, almost unsinkable, and have a long cruising radius.
Missions: Search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, marine environmental protection, and recreational boating safety.

47' Motor Lifeboat
The 47-foot motor life boat, built by Textron Marine Systems of New Orleans, has replaced the venerable 44-foot motor life boats. Coast Guard engineers designed the prototype which was tested in the harsh waters off Cape Disappointment, Wash. The new design offers a motor life boat that retains the critical self-righting capability, and is faster and more functional than previous motor life boats. Superior engineering incorporated into the 47-foot heavy weather patrol and rescue craft promises to help save more lives than was possible with search and rescue technology of the past. The new 47-footer can operate successfully in extreme conditions, such as storm force winds and 20-foot plus breaking seas to provide assistance at sea under the most severe of all marine conditions.
Missions: Search and Rescue, Maritime Law Enforcement, Marine Environmental Protection, and Recreational Boating Safety.

This is for both of you. My Aunt had Shingles. She had them all over her chest, her waist, down her hips.
Yes, it is absolutely horrible pain she said.

I hope this helps, she only had it one time and then it never came back again ever. I pray that will be the same for you Minute Gal and for your husband WVNan.I pray you never have it again and that it goes away very , very soon.

"I heard that."

Then you know I'll be needing those prayers next week.
The crew at the Station like me, so I'm sure they won't let me fall overboard. LOL
And they won't be taking me on surf drills, but will take me out in the ocean.
Uh, prayers for calm seas would be appreciated.
