"extra pats on the fanny" are always nice! ;-)
Did Ann Coulter Donate?... and If So I Volunteer to Administer "Extra Pats!"
It makes me squirm when donors of $5, $10, even $25 describe their donations with adjectives like "paltry" and "pitiful". The truly pitiful ones are the freeploaders. The $5+ donors should be regarded as generous philanthropists.
Please, not so. To be truly pitiful, you have to not even lurk. For all the others, there is hope.
Think, if FR had existed in the early '50s, what chance is there that Ronald Reagan would not have lurked--and, having lurked for awhile, generously contributed? You don't only want to pay for your own bandwidth. You want to pay for the bandwidth of the lurker who sees your insightful comments and may in future start paying his and other's way also.
For a paltry dollar, you can be a leader. Don't stop there, of course . . .
Think of what it means in terms of the First Amendment . . . on the Internet $4 per year buys "the poor man's soap box" that Bill Bradley was prattling about--but one which can be read nationwide and even worldwide! The contrast between FR and broadcast advertising is stark. All politics should be on the net and in print--delete all of it from the broadcasting especially journalism!
That's really true! All donations make a difference -- as the following Freepers have stated:

"While large donations are great, often it is the small ones that are sacrificial and inspiring.
Every penny that is donated is greatly appreciated and helps to pay the bills.
Those who are not in a position right now to donate can still make an important contribution by bumping this thread or pinging others to it."

"A lot of people come to FreeRepublic on a daily basis for their news. Strangely, many of them never stop to think about how this site is paid for. Many have no idea that FreeRepublic is fully funded by the people who use the site.
If everyone who was registered donated $1 a month, we'd never have to have a fund raiser. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen. Some people think their $5 or $10 wouldn't make a difference, but it would."

"... You state perfectly what the FReepathons are all about. If more of us gave a small amount on a regular monthly basis, we would never have to hold them.
I believe that 99% of the registered FReepers would never miss a monthly donation of $5.00 a month. At the same time, all of us honor our FReeper friends who might be in difficult financial straits and are happy to carry the burden for them."
Your support of Free Republic will be greatly appreciated! Make a difference. Please contribute today.
Elvis is currently a lurker.
Bumping for new $5 monthlies! Please join Grampa Dave's team!! Your $5 per month donation will be greatly appreciated!
An excerpt from Grampa Dave's Free Republic Lifeform post:
"This is a wonderful description of what Free Republic really is. It is a living and evolving Life Form to battle the left wingers and those who would destroy this country!...
Free Republic needs a constant infusion of cash to keep the Free Republic Life Form alive, viable and to grow. If we believe in Free Republic, we must donate each month or quarterly to keep this incredible life form alive... Good stewardship is what this world needs, not good intentions. Good conservative stewards will insure that the Free Republic Life Form continues to grow, be viable and thrives!"
The Free Republic Life Form continues to grow -- A $5 per month "infusion" will make a difference!!
