Re: TAG classes

Both of my sons were "tracked" into TAG classes...the oldest was asssigned as his major project -- study and report on an "Endangered" Species (ooo-how PC) -- the rest of the time was spent doing logic puzzles while missing their regular class time, where they were still expected to keep up with those projects & assignments

What a waste

P.S. --I home educate now :)

You are 100% correct. When I was in high school, we had a pull-out "gifted" program that met once a week, and we would be assigned group problems to solve: ending famine and pollution, that sort of thing. Obviously the teachers thought they were steering us toward being the enlightened saviors of the world, although in retrospect their approach was laughably crude and simple-minded.

I have often noticed that the field of "gifted education" tends to attract a certain type of adult, exemplified by the teacher on Malcolm in the Middle.
