The usual "two words," of course:
Home School.

Recently, in some articles I've read on education in my state, they mention a "UN" teacher or advisor. Perhaps "UN" teacher isn't quite the correct term, but I believe it has something to do with the United Nations. Do we have representatives of the UN in our schools? Can someone give me information on this?

Don't bother to talk to the judge. Just get your kid out of there. Student handbooks get larger and larger every year. Parents would have to attend many seminars (or have a lawyer go over the handbook with a fine-tooth comb) to understand all the ramifications of the various petty rules and regulations. Sometimes, it's just easier (and safer for your child) to pick up and leave than to subject your child to the whims of an idiotic school administrator hell-bent on "zero tolerance." When choosing a school for your child, perhaps you should ask how many children were "referred to the judge"? If it's more than just a few, the school has a "major" crime problem. Do you want your child in that type of atmosphere?

Parents pay the bills. Why should they be intimidated? If all of them got together and told the school that their children's thoughts are their own, that would be the end of it.

You are 100% correct. When I was in high school, we had a pull-out "gifted" program that met once a week, and we would be assigned group problems to solve: ending famine and pollution, that sort of thing. Obviously the teachers thought they were steering us toward being the enlightened saviors of the world, although in retrospect their approach was laughably crude and simple-minded.
I have often noticed that the field of "gifted education" tends to attract a certain type of adult, exemplified by the teacher on Malcolm in the Middle.
