So, are you saying that I cannot simply say "I accept Jesus into my heart" and I will be saved. How does one "mean it?"

You defenders of the construct do like to slice it pretty thin, don't you? Well, since God reads decisions of the heart and not some rote recitation of words (not even some rote recitation of John Owen), I don't think it is profitable to spend too much time and effort on the 'perfect' formulation of words.

But we do know the answer which Paul and Silas gave when the Phillipian jailer asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved." And he was.

Now I know that isn't the word of some construct defender like John Owen, but, well, -- how can I say this to you charitably -- it is the Word of God and that is good enough for me.

They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved."

Ok, so how do I "believe in the Lord Jesus?"

Until a single non-Calvinist can fully explain how I can be saved, then you have nothing but a weak gospel. "What must I do to be saved," the lost ask. Can the Arminian answer these simple questions?

is it possible for you to make your point without referring to a Calvinist "construct"?

Let me suggest this. As long as you describe our beliefs as a "Calvinist construct" I will refer to your beliefs as an "Arminian lie". Fair?

Wait a minute, I see it now. The Calvinist construct proves that Paul and Silas were wrong too. They should have said, "Oh, Mr. Jailer. There is nothing for you to decide. Despite what you think, you are not really thinking right now. If you are one of our small group selected from the foundation of the world to be saved, you already are saved. And, on the other hand, if you are part of the much larger group damned from the foundation of the world to Hell, well, we don't really have any "good news" for you. Too bad. But in any event, go on home there is nothing for you to do tonight."

Now I see how dangerous it is to read the Bible unguided by John Owen (and the other Calvinist luminaries).

I am sorry for the sarcasm, but my patience with pomposity runneth low this morning. For those who are sincerely seeking Christ and yet read the pompous perversity passing for 'theology' which gets posted here, forget the Calvinist construct. Get yourself a modern language Bible and read the Good News for yourself. Jesus Christ died for all and He will save any who believe in Him.
