Well, I hate to admit it, but it looks like if we are going to make a world class effort in curling, hockey, and snowshoes (the drink, not the damn foot thingies) we are going to have to inveigle them into the Union.

Of course, we'll have to deal with French, and I bet the Cajuns in louisiana will make a big push too. But...we sure could use the improvement in cuisine.

laissez le bon temps roullez!

Or something like that.

I wouldn't mind joining the Union. Every province west of Quebec. Quebec and the maritimes can go off and do they're thing. Finally, a chance for me to become President :)

Congratulations!

But you won several years ago when I looked down into a urinal I was using at a Canadian reststop
and there boldly printed inside was the name of the manufacturer:   American Standard.

I couldn't stop laughing as I took careful aim.

You Canadians really have a great sense of humor, eh?

Canada is nearly our 51 st. state so it isn't that bad. However they did play a great game and it elevated North American hockey to the greatest level of all time.

Ay Banger, What about our nearly 52d state, Mexico? Eh? Wait til our amigos south of the border start putting in ice skating rinks. Just wait! And what about Cuba? Fidel isn't going to live forever you know. How about a Cuban hockey tean for our nearly 53d state? LOL

Yes, they deserved it, but not for the reason you mention. They DESERVED it because they outplayed the U.S. If they had not won, they would NOT have deserved it.

(That for this touchy-feely crud that has taken over for brains in our over-choreographed modern society).

The best hockey team cannot be decided in one game. This is why the Stanley Cup championship is a best of seven games series. In reality, this means nothing.

Perhaps, but there a couple pretty good Canadian NBAers. Put back college players into Olympic Basketball. The Dream Team was nice, once... Props to Canada, but put amateurs back in Olympic hockey.. just not the same..

I agree, since the 'Dream Team' US Olympic Basketball is a huge bore.
I thought Coach Thompson screwed up in 84 with his team selections.
Our collegians should be competitive in any year.

Today on the ice we were adversaries. In the real world, we are the closest of allies and friends.

Did you see the photo op of Yzerman, Shannahan, Chelios, and Hull after the award ceremony on CBC? GO WINGS!

At least he has more class than Herb Brooks whining about his tired team and making remarks about the seeding which were totally senseless and showed ignorance of the competition rules. The US team showed class in defeat- too bad loser Brooks did not.Other than being the 1980 coach he has not done much except be a failure in the NHL.

Don't worry - I wasn't meaning in the "touchy-feely" way - they deserved it because they WON with THEIR performance, and that it had been 50 years since they had done that.
