Regarding Clany and his books ... who can say? He's apparently got a whole team, a whole company set up now and can afford to edit and critique things and send them out under his name if he wants.
I don't believe his latest stuff is nearly as good as the earlier "Hunt for Red October", "Red Storm Rising" and "Patriot Games" for example.
Regards and hope all is going well with the effort on your book.
I guess the lure of the paid-in-advance contract for future work is hard to resist, even if there is no particular inspiration. So they just sit down and type anything, and get paid.
Did you design and construct and HTML it all or have help?
I then did some reseach and got with Lightning Source (www.lightningsource.com) and set up with them to do Print on Demand. That's how the printed books are going out now, to Amazon, to Barnes and Nobles and to my own efforts from my web site and at local book stores, etc.
I did all of the art and press/camera ready work myself using Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat to make the electronic files they are being using for the book ... including all of the formatting for print for the two-sided facing page margins, etc. All of that is going to lightning source as PDF files created through Acrobat (Note, not Acrobat Reader, but the full version from Aldus)
I also did the same for the Adobe Ebook Reader and MSReader formats, purchasing all of this software to make that possible. I then provided the necessary files to LightningSource for the Adobe Ebook version. (Lightning Source also does the Adobe Ebook Reader) Amazon has picked up on that and the Printed Book from Lightning Source.
Well over half my sales are now printed books, and I am hoping with the new Amazon links that those sales will pick up dramtically, but I will have to get the word out regarding the same.
Barnes and Nobles also picked up on it from that distribution point (Lightning Source) I believe.
Hope all that helps.
We hope a large publisher takes it on soon and puts it in every major book store across the country ... either way, we are going to keep pushing and promoting it ourselves too.
I make no qualms about indicating that there is a message in this book and the whole series that is couched in what I hope is an exciting and enjoyable plot and characterization, but the underlying message and warning is one I hope gets out all across the country.

FRegards!
I'm well into Chapter One of Book two here, having finished the Prologue. I've been distracted by the WTC Petition and looking for more engineering work ... but have got a routine down now where I can get to it. <p You've got FRemail
I hope to have book number two out by the end of May myself. Lots of folks asking me for it already.
Re: Free Republic Book of the Month, February: Your Choices and Summaries, both Fiction/Non-Fiction NEW Bob J 2002-02-22 10:38:59 "The Shrew" has taken on this project and I'm sure he could use some help. Basically, we will have a section of the website that lists recommended reading with reviews from FReepers and a link to Amazon or someplace else where they can buy the book. I noticed your post and thought it would seque nicely. If you're intersted in conservative books and reading, I think you would be a fine team member on this project! Contact The Shrew via FReepmail and tell him about your post and that I directed you to him!

I'm going to drag out sabretooth's big ping list--
Hey, People! Come on over and support a fellow member!
Whenever, I order and receive a book from Amazon.com, I send a copy of the receipt to two book stores who refuse to carry conservative books!
